Revolt within Ufology: The rise of the UFO “Bolsheviks”
A serious movement to marginalize and/or eliminate ufology’s
psychopaths is gaining momentum in several quarters of the UFO community.
Disreputable UFO ‘thugs” – many “prominent” UFO persons
followed by newbies and ufological sycophants – are being outed for their inept
and fraudulent activities in the UFO genre.
It seems that thoughtful UFO aficionados or buffs have had
enough of the shenanigans of ufology’s sleaze-mongers.
This isn’t just about those who foisted the “Roswell slide
alien” on UFO followers; it also is a take-out of those who promote alien
abductions, those (the disclosure fanatics) who insist the government is hiding
extraterrestrial contact from the public, and psychotic ramblers who present
cockeyed theories and fake UFO events via the internet and at UFO conferences.
The May 5th 2015 Roswell slides people – Carey,
Schmitt, Maussan, Dolan, Bragalia – committed ufological suicide, so they
aren’t on the the “bolshevik” hit list. But persons such a Greer, Salas,
Jacobs, et al. are, and I’ll provide, upcoming, a list that has been presented
on Facebook from the UFO Bolshevik leader(s).
But there is a problem.
While I am a “friend” of some of the people involved in
movement to oust sociopaths from the UFO community, there are a few revolting
people in the mix.
And by revolting I mean, homely or ugly people: unkempt
slobs, vulgarians, and non-intellectuals I’m sorry to report.
The new UFO elite is composed of persons who have a fetish
for a democratized ufology, which I, as a proto UFO fascist, find distressing.
For me, a Marshall McLuhan devotee, I think the messenger is
often as important as the message: putting a grotesque (in several ways) person
or persons in charge of a revolution will kill that revolution, on the spot.
If Maximilien Robespierre had been a homely man, the French
Reign of Terror would never had gotten off the ground.
And if Lenin was a little bit uglier, the Bolsheviks would
hardly have gotten as far as they did in establishing a communist state in
Russia.
The new ufologists will destroy their effort right out of
the box by including and touting those who are loutish and proletarian, often
resorting to scatological jargon to make their points.
An air of academic and cultural refinement should be the
hallmark of any movement to oust the current ufological bigwigs.
To replace con-men and irresolute persons with members of
the great unwashed is tantamount to offering shit instead of piss for the
communal UFO trove.
At any rate, change is inevitable. Whether that change will
be beneficent or dire is yet to be determined.

Forgive me, but I simply do not understand what you are talking about. Is it me or you? Please get to the point, and soon.

Hey Rich
What's this about me linked to the UFO Bolsheviks thing in your comment to CDA and concerning Facebook?
I'm not sure what this is about, but although I am on a lot of Facebook groups, I have far better things to do with my time than waste it on outing ufological nuts! LOL.
Which Facebook groups is it?

Nick:
It's the onslaught at Tim Brigham's (et al.) page about the UFO extravaganza thing.
There is an invite for a media stream to you, me, and others there also.

Okay thanks, I'll have to check that out.

The rout. Nick, isn't only instigated by Tim's postings.
Those who are "friends" of his are part of the movement to cleanse ufology.
Tim merely energizes those who see ufology as fraught with ne'er-do-wells.

'Cleansing ufology'? I hope it is not like the 'ethnic cleansing' in Bosnia in the 90s!
By
cda, at Tuesday, October 20, 2015
That kinda cleansing might be exactly what's needed, CDA.

Rich, was there a time when ufology wasn't 'ET-ology'? Public interest in "ufos" doesn't appear until after Scully's book is serialized in the newspapers and Keyhoe's article became a news story. So, early 1950. Prior to that time, where was ufology or who were the ufologists? Does Ray Palmer count as one? Meade Layne? Kenneth Arnold?
If one wants to reform ufology and exclude the alien spam in a can from consideration, there doesn't seem much left, although there is plenty of non ET speculation that gets lumped together as 'ufology', mainly because those not-ET advocates continue to refer to their work as part of ufology. Maybe it is time to just start something new and leave ufology to its dna -- ET.

Don

I think you have it exactly right.
And who was the first "ufologist" anyway? Charles Fort perhaps?

I think Fort had read H G Wells. Until the 19th century, the public didn't have the concept that planets are big rocks in outer space, and didn't know what "outer space" meant...even if the term existed then, which it may not have.
In the 1950s sf was attempting to legitimize itself with the literary mainstream (as they called it) and looked for historical sources for sf. There wasn't much before Wells...allegories mostly, as I recall, in which "space travel" was somehow (often in a dream) flying to the spheres ruled by the planets (usually, to the moon). Fort, was (and is) the sourcebook for sf (and most alternate cosmologies that I am aware of). So, sure, Fort was the first ufologist. During the 47 wave, in the news stories and also in letters to the editor, self-described Forteans promoted the ETH.
One day I should write an article on 'Vulgar Forteanism'-- which is not the same as 'Fortean' or "Fort".
Anyway, the idea of purging ufology reminds me of the attempt to purge sf during the 1950s; Ray Palmer was the source of all error to the sf purgers back then...and he played the same role in ufology. at the same time, for the ufology purgers back then. Today isn't the first time ufology had a purge.
Well, it didn't work then (in sf or ufology) and what we got out of it is what you have been addressing.
Most published ufology (Roswell lore is the iconic example) is just about 'toggling eyeballs'. People love mystery. Like a slasher movie, they wander down into the cellar where the monster lives, and never flip on the light switch.

Don

Does this revolution and related round-up include pretend gulags or concentration camps for those ousted?
I was thinking maybe the Mines of Ura Penthe would be fitting, or some detention cells on Nibiru or the far side of the moon.

Yes, Brian, it has be something more containable than exile.
Someplace, as you've cited or the Fushtag of Umbriel; the asylum on that Uranus moon.

Rich, one must remember that with most past revolutions, the first to stand in front of a wall blindfolded were the elites, intellectuals, academicians, and lawyers.
This leaves those holding the torches and pitchforks to run things.
By
Tim Hebert, at Wednesday, October 21, 2015
Ah yes, Tim...
Revolts (or revolutions) are messy affairs, as Robespierre came to find out.
I placed my caveat in the posting: about the slovenly persons who are in the rabble-rousing mix (me among them).
I didn't add one comment sent here, as it contained an image of one of the unhappy UFO "buffs" -- a lout, who was homelier than a pig, with an agenda just a ugly.
Moreover, the intellectual acumen of the wannabes is nil or less than nil.
But if, as God did in the Noah/ark scenario, the raft of ufologists in place now were decimated, the void could be filled by strong-armed academic-like UFO hobbyists, without an ET agenda or super-egos (and beards).
It's a dream and your "warning" does not go unheeded by me.

By and large, the ufological proletariat (ufo-prol) is incult and devoid of the most basic analytical consciousness. It hungrily feeds on opiate diversions, excreted in ever larger quantities, that foster false beliefs and unrealistic expectations.
A reversal of this state through a spontaneous awakening of the masses is
objectively impossible.
Ufology will be cleansed of its harmful insects, swindler-fleas and wealthy
bugs and their enablers only through a direct struggle implemented by a disciplined, organised and intellectually alert vanguard working for the ufo-prol, above the ufo-prol.
In the context of this analysis, any ufological-commenting activity that doesn't aim to wipe out the profit-seeking exploiters is idle chatter.
