UFOs: What are we looking for?
Copyright 2017, InterAmerica, Inc.
While scouring another older UFO magazine in my collection,
I came across an article by Jerome Clark and my (now deceased) friend Lucius
Farish about the wave of airship sightings in 1909.
The accounts were reminiscent of the 1896 Airship reports
(that Clark and Farish also distilled in magazine articles).
This got me to thinking about what we UFO buffs are doing
now and have done, or not done, in the past and recently with or about the UFO
phenomenon.
The 1947 Roswell incident is, for all practical purposes,
tapped out when it comes to information that isn’t a rehash of the cluttered
material accumulated from 1978 to today.
The Socorro/Lonnie Zamora event of 1964 has been thrashed to
the point of ennui.
The Betty/Barney Hill “abduction” is also flattened by the
contradictory elements that have crept into the Hill’s tale since the story
became overt in the mid-1960s.
You can name a number of other UFO accounts, from Kenneth
Arnold’s 1947 sighting to the array of unidentified lights that persons are
reporting everyday lately, accounts that don’t matter.
In the golden age of flying saucers, the mysterious
phenomenon engendered excitement because it was fraught with odd or quirky
subsets that intrigued curious minds.
But today all we have is the flying saucer mythos, besotted
with egregious accumulations of fancy more than fact, and a few weird lights
flying overhead.
There is no there there, or here.
We UFO buffs have nothing to chew on, the old UFO bones
gnawed to ossified remnants, offering nothing to sustain our once avid hunger.
Lights in the sky are of little interest to the real
ufologist.
“Objects” with seeming tangibility or encounters with potential other-worldly beings or creatures are grist for enthusiasm but neither appear any longer.
“Objects” with seeming tangibility or encounters with potential other-worldly beings or creatures are grist for enthusiasm but neither appear any longer.
So what are we to do, rehammer and hammer again the gristled
remains of old UFO sightings, as a few followers of Kevin Randle’s blog are
doing with the Chiles-Whitted “flying cigar” or misperceived bolide sighting of
1948?
Do we hope that an overhead light drops down for a closer
look allowing its photographic capture with the technology of today?
Or do we produce a bona fide theory of what flying
saucers were once and how they turned into the boring things called UFOs today?
I have no answer, obviously, and find that no one else does
either.
We are all fritzing around with the topic, treading water,
in an ocean of silliness and moronic colloquies with like-persons.
Something has to be done, something disruptive and
transcendental, or final, thanatopic.

RR,
I think that there are still ongoing reports lost amid all the foolishness but they are getting lost in the trash. Here's a good question:
Are all those that testified in Steven Greer's past National Press Club production where they offered to testify under oath to congress even possibly all bogus? Seems impossible.
When you listen to those apparently dignified and respectable men of former respectable military and other positions -I haven reviewed that recently but I recall it, -it was hard not to believe them. The did not appear to be shills.

Bryan....
(Remember to delete that white space when you finish a comment. I have to do that also.)
As for the Greer guys....that they're connected with him causes me concern, but people do have experiences and do see things.
So we have anecdotal accounts. But what is anyone doing with those accounts? Nada.
It's like a scientist offering that he or she spotted a quantum quark but then no one seeks to prove that the quark exists, hoping that the government will look for it.

The obvious conclusion is that the ETs have finally tired of us and have gone home. They may pay us another visit (in the 25th century, like Buck Rogers?).
Meanwhile the US government, and maybe a few others, know all this and are hoping that the said ETs do NOT pay us another visit, either in the 25th century or at any other time.
I wish some of these mediums who can contact the dead would get in touch with General Ramey and settle the matter.

RR,
The same "what's anyone doing...Nadad" applies across the board. What's to be done and who's to do it is the question. With so many "reports" on the net who could and would run them down -only to get personal reports with the UFO long gone.
Presumably, if not certainly, any resolution would start with the first clear photo verified by other witnesses, a landed UFO so unlikely.
The news reported a million dollar reward for a bigfoot for goodness sake, why not the same reward for the first clear verified photo by a military or airline pilot? Just thinking.

Yes Bryan, they did testify under oath to a "Retired group of congress, men & women"
at the National Press club. Citizen Hearing on UFO.Disclosure, April 29th.2013
Organized by Mr.Steven Basset...
It went rather well, and everyone was impressed, but that's where it ended!! Not much of a feedback other than, how well the hearing went, and that was that, really!
Rich, is right! [What is anyone doing with those accounts? Nada.]
We suspect its because of the: Trump card;)..but who knows what Mr Trump will do next!?..OMG!.............

Good post. But you are ufology's "John the Baptist" crying out in the wilderness with the only difference is that you are harping on something that has come and gone versus that which is to arrive.
The above appropriate with Sunday's celebrations.
Look at world events...nada on UFOs. UFOs are Dickens' bad piece of potato...a gastric anomaly that conjures up a psychotic irritation. N. Korea...a true combination of psychiatric interest and worry.
ET does not seem to be interested in world events...no divine revelations to be had.
Rich, a glorious Easter to you my friend, and as our forefathers would say, "He has risen."
