@Nick Redfern @All Roswell-Skeptic @The US Air Force (If you read here, too)
First it was a Weatherballoon, then it was the Mogul Balloon and now it was another Balloon - it is sooo ridiculous!
Do you all really think the People (Mac Brazil, Jesse Marcel and other Witnesses) in that Time (1947) were sooo stupid? It was only 1947...and not the Middle-age as People thought the Earth was flat!
Nick refers us to Keith Basterfield, who refers to someone called 'Martin' who tells us that it was his father who actually saw or knew about the event. Again we have a "deathbed confession" decades afterwards.
Is this the sort of evidence we are supposed to accept? We have had these same 'deathbed confessions' before, except in such cases (cited by Randle & Schmitt among others) the debris was said to be extraterrestrial. Now it is said to be terrestrial and probably US made, but still so secret that we cannot be told the story until the said witness (or his son) finally dies. And even then his name cannot be revealed.
That's ufology for you. Or rather: that's Roswell ufology for you. That's progress for you!
Meanwhile we've got a general election today. That'll take our minds off Roswell for a day at least!
ML: No, of course they weren't stupid. But, that doesn't mean it wasn't a balloon. Let's not forget too that by Brazel's own admission military balloons had come down on the ranch on two previous occasions...
Ok...and at the two Balloons he didnt go to the Sheriff in Roswell and no Army from the Roswell Airfield came to Brazil to clarify the two Balloons, right? He did that only at the Roswell-"Balloon", right or not?
Brazel only went to the sheriff AFTER he met some people in Corona who told him about the 'flying disc' sightings and the reward being offered to anyone who found one. Hence his eagerness to try his luck and get the reward, even though the debris looked fairly mundane but perhaps a bit unusual.
Remember also that both Brazel and Marcel tried to make a kite out of the sticks and rubber they found.
Don't kid yourself that anyone at the time ever gave a moment's thought to the ET idea. That only came 32 years later, with Bill Moore and Stanton Friedman.
The reason why he reported the Roswell debris was because it was not regular weather balloon material. It was likely aluminum laminated, as per the Air Force statement. Brazel quite rightly realized this was something different. But, being different did not make it extraterrestrial.
I have to say, I find it astonishing that people don't take more notice of the fact that debris from 2 other balloons had *already* fallen on the ranch before the "Roswell" affair.
Strangely enough, when Dad first got into Roswell, it was the weather bureau he called first about the stuff he had found. (The Roswell Incident, UK edition, p.85).
Marcel's statement concerning the length (depth) of the debris field has always interested me. If his quote is accurate, he said that the wreckage was scattered for roughly three/quarters of a mile. That is one HECK of a long distance (that's over 1300 yards for you golfers out there)and it just does not compute (to me) that the balloons shown in the pictures, even smashed all to hell, could do that. What am I missing?
Weather balloons can be used to study weather....or they can be used in a system that looks across the horizon for the tell-tale signature of nuclear detonations. Saying it was a 'weather balloon' doesn't imply that the subject being studied was the weather itself.
Actually, what Mack Brazel said was that he had found weather observation balloons on two other occasions but this didn't resemble in any way either of them. This device, whatever it might have been, scattered debris over a large area so that Brazel was worried about who was going to clean up the mess. You all can put your spin on that.
Occam died 1000 Years ago...are you really sure that you to take over Arguments from a Man who lived in a Time where the most People thought that the Earth is Flat?
We are talking The Roswell here. If ever there was a UAP/UFO topic that screams for just common sense it is here.
Philosophy of a 1,000 years ago, or even further back, in the search for truth has no age related connection. The Razor is as true now as it was then.
Roswell is a black hole of our topic. It just runs counter to reason and has simply been regurgitated repeatedly by true believers irrespective of the real evidence.
Kevin: Mu point wasn't so much that the material was from a weather device, but just the fact that two military devices had *already* come down on the ranch. In other words, Brazel was not a stranger to having military things coming down in that area.
Your comments make it very clear that you are emotionally tied to the UFO theory for Roswell. You clearly want Roswell to be extraterrestrial. You need to look at all the data and not get tied up in that "I want to believe" angle - which is clearly where you are now.
Michael: You are clearly in an emotional "I want to believe" mode. You need to keep beliefs out of Roswell and go with data and evidence - and nothing else.
Yes, yes the alleged "Myth of Flat Earth", as i discuss that here in Germany the other Discussants they tell me also: "Mimimi...they didnt say that the Earth is flat, they sayed the Earth is round!"
I say then: "Did they really mean with "The Earth is round!" that Earth ist a Globe or only that the flat Earth is round like a Circle?!"
I think they mean at that Time that the Earth is flat and round like a Circle. Nobody sayed at that Time "The Earth is a Globe!" That was only clear as Columbus find that out!"
@Nick Redfern
I´m not in a "I want to believe" Mode, i´m in a "I know the Whitness-Testify and i know what they saw" Mode! ^^ ;-)
And they saw strange metallic Wreckage which they have never seen before and the "Victims" were "Beings" who could never born on Earth because they looked similar to Humans but the were not Humans because they had Reptilianskin.
Thats not a "believe" Mode - thats a "I know"-Mode!!!
No one has answered my question concerning the alleged length of the debris field. 1300 yards?! That is one hell of a total area. What drops out of the sky and leaves strange debris (that baffles an experienced intelligence officer)scattered the length of 13 football fields?

Hello,
Bill Brazel concerning his father:
Strangely enough, when Dad first got into Roswell, it was the weather bureau he called first about the stuff he had found. (The Roswell Incident, UK edition, p.85).
;)

You see, Nick, also concerning the other Comments, you are wrong with your Theory!
Or with the Words of Giorgio A. Tsoukalos:
"I´m not saying it was Aliens. But it was Aliens!"

I have to go with our old friend Occam, the simplest solution is that it was Mogul on the ground and the rest is now worn out folklore.

Your analogy is very bad. It is (another) myth!

Kevin: My point wasn't to suggest that the debris that Brazel found was from a weather device - it clearly wasn't.
My point is that I find it notable that on 2 previous occasions military devices had come down on the ranch.
And, what has become known as the Roswell wreckage was the 3rd thing to come down on the ranch.
Could a UFO have come down on a ranch where 2 military devices had previously come down? I guess so.
But, what's more likely - that scenario or the scenario that this was a third military device? I go with the latter.

I'm not saying that the Roswell wreckage was a weather device, it clearly wasn't.
My point is that by Brazel's own admission, 2 military devices had come down on the ranch previously.
Could a UFO have crashed on the same land where 2 military devices had come down earlier? I guess so.
But, what's more likely: a UFO coming down or a third military device?
