The UFO ET “problem” (for me)

Copyright 2017, InterAmerica, Inc.

Besides the inconsequentiality of Earth in our galaxy (and even more so in the universe, both seen and hidden), there are other aspects of the UFO phenomenon, as reported (witnessed) that are problematical, for me.

These troubling attributes that show up in UFO witness accounts include the absurd behavior of UFOs and their “crews.”

Skip the accounts of “attacks” and encounters with UFO’s alleged odd creatures.
Those are hallucinatory events. Even taking into account that we really have no idea what ETs look like or how they might act, no advanced species would show up looking like or acting like the humanoids that have been reported by witnesses, if intelligence is the essence of beings that might travel here from afar.

The UFO activities that seem irrational include overt fly-overs when there is airspace above land-masses where an advanced species could survey flora and fauna discreetly.

Yes, some will say that UFO entities are checking out humans and human activity but, unless UFO ETs are grabbing visual data (biological, architectural, sociological, et cetera) such fly-aboves seem cavalier, touristy in nature; the surveillance appearing to be rambling not methodical.

Rationality or intelligence has to be the hallmark of an advanced species.

Taking the time to travel to Earth and study it for all the years that UFOs have been seen would not be missions of an intelligent civilization from what the UFO forays, as reported, indicate: the reported sightings or activities of flying saucers (UFOs) have been, generally, purposeless, without specificity, even the so-called sightings near nuclear or military facilities,

Perhaps, as some might claim, ETs are just curious about Earth’s diversity, but in the numbers supported by reports/sightings? I don’t think so. That would be an abandonment of rational intelligence. No advanced species would spend so much time – even if that species were near immortal – studying the sluggish movement of change and evolution on our planet.

Remember, ETs are thought to be intelligent or advanced.

Anything less would make no sense. A lesser advanced species would not, could not, make a journey here, and surely not in the numbers suggested by UFO sighting data.

UFOs and ETs are incompatible with logic and common sense.

  • I agree with your point. Laws of physics govern the universe, multi-dimensional or not. If just the fact that there are sightings, it implicates light and matter that are "tangeable". To travel across immense distances, light-years, parsecs or wormhole jumps, the "fuel" needed remains quite large. Either to propel through galaxies or protect against massive gravity pull. Crafts can't be small. A saucer 30 feet in diameter can't even bring you across the solar system (unless you are in no rush). Even warp drives guzzled by element 115 (see lazar...) can't mathematically compel. That is why nowadays we are hearing more and more tales of aliens contacting us through a psychic network to compensate the solid improbability. Ufology should in that case, change its name to ufoparalogy. If we could verify the visitations with "unlimited" money, we should create a world wide scanning system of the exosphere. A real time, high precision, object identifier of entering matter; 1.35 E10 square kilometers of it! We would certainly see more rocks coming in than space-bending Westfalias....

There's a good article that explains the improbability: http://lithub.com/why-would-aliens-even-bother-with-earth/

  • Fake Encounters by the US Military.

  • Michael, I'll try and be polite, but...

When I was in the military, we did not sit around devising plots concerning conspiracy theories revolving around UFOs. To the contrary, UFOs were rarely discussed unless in jest.

I suspect you have taken a bite of the apple from Ufology's Garden of Eden and believe that you have had the veil lifted from your eyes. Unfortunately, the evidence points in another direction.

  • Hello Rich, it's a given that many are chasing their own tails or, better yet, being misled by their own hand shadows. We only seem to be able to see some part that already exists within us. We are only able to ascribe contexts we know well and describe 'UFOs' in terms we're subjectively familiar with.

In that sense, we're all scuppered by the limitations of our own experiences, points in time and educations. In spite of this, I remain slightly intrigued by whatever stimulated the reports and how it rose in frequency before diminishing to almost a murmur.

Like you point out, popular explanations don't answer all the questions. No single hypothesis covers all the bases. I could take exception to your last statement, but realise it was rhetorical and know you've spent more time than most considering its thorniness.

  • Thank you Kandinsky...

You, more than most, understand the "problems" abutting the UFO phenomenon and its adherents.

  • I see you're still getting into trouble and I hope it never changes. There's a lot to be said for networking and being 'on message.' It's just as important to have people who are independent.

Ufology is predicated on the liminal, the outliers and novelty and ironically seems to favour birds of a feather and team players.

  • The Null and Psychosocial hypotheses exist outside of and address the entire "UFO" subject and subculture. They are not possessed by the subject and its fanatics but rule over it. I'd like someone to tell me what is left unexplained about "UFOs."

Anyone who really believes at this late date that there are "UFOs" of any kind is still suffering under the weight of the "UFO" collective delusion--a popular myth created by the media that there are phantom aircraft and demons haunting the sky.
