UFO Conjectures

An hallucination? Probably not.

Usually I'd place UFO sightings, such as that above, in a category that is psychologically or neurologically oriented but with so many reports of a like kind (as those Paul Dean has collected and offered for scrutiny), the odds that people were (or are) mass-afflicted by a mental scourge is rather hard to accept.

But offering the ET invasion scenario is just as hard or harder to accept.

And a mis-perception of prosaic or mundane objects, while possible seems improbable. Otherwise we'd have to discount observation (or witness testimony) as so flawed as to be worthless.

People do see strange things and report them, rather accurately, even taking into account the contingencies of observational maladies.

So how do we reconcile such accounts with reality?

I think it is important to realize just how many people at the time were exposed to imagery such as those found on the following page:

  • Yes...

I think the inundation of such imagery resonated with many people, subliminally and not.

That they may have built a "memory" or event on their unconscious recollection of such magazine covers (or stories) is worthy of a study all by itself.

The first sentence is exactly the issue in the acknowledging of "contingencies of observational maladies."

How we reconcile is looking for a signal amid the noise. Of course noise is the ongoing amid which we seek signal -and the signals we get or have had thus far are still questions, most commonly still unreachable aerial unknowns, as we yet await a defining moment.

  • But Bryan...

Discerning "technicians" -- real researchers -- can separate the signal from the noise, just as they do with aberrant recordings flush with noises of all kinds.

It can be done, if one takes the time and effort to do so, using methodologies open to them (and rather prevalent nowadays).

  • RR,

Huh? What discerning technicians and real researchers? Recordings? Methodologies open to them? Who?

But you're still on to it in that it takes time and money -but again it comes back to the fact that here we have something worthy of investigation but the stigma of the UFO gets in the way so the charlatans of the net (certainly not you) and TV are the only money makers of the subject. The AA and the ETH proponents have tainted the topic that should start simply, at a base level, with UAPs and go forward from there.

We have an erratic subject unsuitable to planned scientific study. All the scientific technology resources aren't worth a farthing until an approachable situation is found and even that requires a team ready with "go bags" awaiting an encounter.

What we are left with are theories based on thinking and reports not on science, an unfortunate state of affairs but the reality.

I'd like to see my Air Force alma mater with an active "alert force" on the ready -I'd like to think they do but if so at what level? Did we even have that with Blue Book?

  • Bryan...

I could not agree with you more.

But I'm idealistic in that, maybe one day, I'm hoping someone or a few will take the UFO matter seriously and apply real thinking and methodologies to the phenomenon.

  • Good morning RR,

Watching the morning news today reporting that the USAF is/was actually and secretly monitoring UAPs. Now how about that?!

To Zoam: So it seems that there is more to be revealed, no?
