Medically induced experiences create [some] UFO observations/events?

In the New Yorker article I mentioned here the other day – Living with a Visionary by John Matthias, Page 26 ff., February 1, 2021 issue – is about the author’s groping with his beloved wife’s Parkinson’s etiology and perhaps descent into Alzheimer’s or dementia.

Some of the symptoms were exampled by visions or hallucinatory observations of such things as these….and I quote from the article:

“Aside from fatigue, she had virtually no symptoms, and her behavior had been absolutely normal … [but] Now she confessed that she was seeing things … She pointed at a wadded-up sweater on a chair across the room. ‘That’s not really a cat, is it?’

“I asked her what else she saw. ‘Little people,’ she explained … Objects had been changing shape – ‘morphing’ was her word – for some time, but recently things had begun appearing out of nowhere.

“We saw a specialist in Chicago, who, like the neurologists Eric Ahlskog and Oliver Sacks, called these ‘illusions.’” [Page 27]

John Matthias writes that  “We suspected that the hallucinations were a side effect of Sinemet” [a medicine his wife was taking for Parkinson’s].

Eventually his wife (Diana) “could no longer shake these things off [so] she began to surrender to them. She slowly ceased to see them as hallucinations.” [ibid]

“One day, she shouted for my help. A housepainter in white overalls … was painting over the portrait of one of our daughters that hung on the living-room wall. The man didn’t speak; none of Diana’s human apparitions ever spoke, though their mouths would move without sound …” [ibid/Page 28]

As a possible syndrome, not Parkinson’s, the author suggested his wife might have been subject to “Lewy body dementia, which produces vivid hallucinations.” 

A constant source of mischief, for Diana, was “someone” she called the “Flowery Man.”

My point here?

That some persons who witness UFO entities or have what seem to be encounter experiences, like Whitley Strieber, may well be suffering from a mentally debilitating disease or repercussions from medicines (or other inputs) they may be taking.

Has anyone pursued this possibility, seriously? (My suggestion may have something to do with a few cases that José Caravaca’s theory has addressed, even its source: his external agency.)
