You, I hope, saw Bill Murphy’s Anomalist links to Tanner
Boyle's Substack articles on the Vilas-Boas incident and reference to his Gulf
Breeze series.
Tanner Boyle, a pal I’ve worked with for the Vilas-Boas stories, is an investigative journalistic kind of reporter, delving into some classic UFO cases.
(I’d like to see him using his incisive energy for new the newer UFO/UAP cases but there it is …)
Jesse Michels, a pre-pal, is my ideal UFO/UAP influencer: brilliant, charismatic, polymathic, and atop what is going on in the UFO world right now.
My long-time pals who are pre-geezerish include Nick Redfern, Tony Bragalia, Paul Kimball, alongside a few other interesting pre-geezer types – M.J. Banias, Bryan Sentes, Chris Lehto, maybe Billy Cox – I have no idea how old he is but he writes youngishly.
Then we have all the rest – the UFO geezers in their late 60s, 70s, early 80s – like Ray Stanford (a loser) and Jacques Vallee, who still maintains his relevance and ingenuity.
The UFO window is closing, usurped by the UAP crowd, too dumb to see how they’ve been hoodwinked by the U.S. Pentagon’s DoD “ brainwashing.”
I can see the younger set, slipping into the UAP mode, they were almost born into it, as were many who became UFO adoptees in the 1950s, along with the old crowd – me included – immersed in the flying saucer categorical offering at the outset of the enigma.
But no matter what, the “kids” will take us into the quantum, AI, ultra-reality that the phenomenon suggests.
And Jesse, Tanner, and a few others will be the bell-ringers. You’ll see.

The government may well have more serious things to hide than just UFOs. It would be truly insidious if they're using UFOs to cover for heinous acts, and sometimes it makes one wonder if the amazing story of flying saucers has all been an orchestrated fiction for maintaining power and control. I can't speak to the specifics of how and why this may have been done, but not for a second do I think government is free and clear of such speculation.

And how is it that serious classified documents get leaked but never an interesting UFO paper?
Maybe there aren't any.

I'm sorry, but when you stoop to interviewing fascist Alex Jones and begin the piece by saying "we really ended up hitting it off" you've lost me, and demonstrated that you're not intellectually equipped to leave the shallow end of the pool.

I'll ask Jesse about this.
Is Jesse promoting Jones, or is he interacting with him?
I know nothing about Jones but if you say he's iffy, that's good enough for me.
I'll check into it.

Yes, by all means, do ask him. I would love to hear his explanation as to why he thinks it’s a good idea to give a hate-monger like Jones any oxygen, much less a sympathetic reading that helps normalize him, and his execrable views and behaviour.

I hit him up on Instagram -- he was active -- with links to blog and Paul's comments.
Nada -- yet.
Over and out for the night.

Jesse confirmed our "palship" but didn't respond to Paul's comments (above).
I have a major MAGA guy -- TV host and newsman, Dan Ball (a former Fort Wayne TV news anchor) -- who remains a "friend" even now as he moves more and more into the Trump circle.
I've eliminated other MAGA people from my FB friend list and generally remove comments, here and online at my other venues, which extol the Trump or MAGA line.
Jesse giving the Jones guy some promotion is disturbing.
While I have not seen or heard anything about Jones -- I do live a sheltered life -- Paul's concern weighs heavily on me and I'll have to moderate my "promotion" of Jesse Michels as a possible influencer in the UFO community.
UFOs don't need a cobweb of political ignorance and fascist-like commentary inserted atop the general hodge-podge of nonsense already encumbering the phenomenon.

I watched the entire interview. I found it painful. I can only imagine how the families of the Sandy Hook victims would feel.
Fascists, neo-Nazis, and the far right in general have long used UFOs and conspiracies to identify and groom potential converts (Ernst Zundel being a prime example). Michels is just the latest person to play along (and he’s not the only one doing so - more and more are venturing into the dark corners). He clearly knows what Jones is about, which makes it even worse.

Jones was that guy sued and almost wiped out for his vile and stupid outbursts on air or a podcast???
If that's the guy, Jesse giving him notice or any attention is, as you note Paul,. Just a terrible decision to act on.

I guarantee you, having listened to the whole thing, Michels doesn't think it was a terrible decision at all. He's not part of the solution, Rich - he's part of the problem. He should be wearing a t-shirt that reads "Intellectual Flyweight".

I'm surprised actually -- and wrote him that I was disappointed but will he care?
The whole gang of MAGAtes makes me sick -- it's beyond ignorance, it's pathological.
I'm hoping Jesse sees the light before he's shunted aside because of such associations.

The sad part is that he won’t be shunted aside in the group to whom he’s catering. It will be good for the business model that he’s created (check the comments on the Jones video), something of which I am certain he is aware. The “old geezers” who you excoriate (not without cause, in some respects) genuinely wanted to discover answers to the mysteries out there. The New Order, conversely, is more concerned with followers, likes, and so forth, all in the name of monetizing the mysteries. Indeed, the last thing they would ever want is for them to be solved - that would screw with the revenue stream.
It’s all about the $ now, Rich.

I'm a bit taken aback by the comments here. So I'll offer some points:
1. Are the ideas that Alex Jones presents stupid? Overwhelmingly yes--they are stupid, ESPECIALLY the insane bullshit about Sandy Hook "crisis actors." Is Jones himself stupid? He certainly acts like it and very well may be. On the other hand it's difficult to say because there are good reasons to doubt the sincerity of his "act." Jones' family is riddled with CIA connections and there are a number of other reasons to suspect he's a spook. It's notable that the other major proponent of Sandy Hook crisis actor nonsense is Jim Fetzer. Fetzer somehow spreads masses of utterly moronic lunatic ideas despite being an accomplished analytic philosopher with a Princeton degree--and he studied under the illustrious logician Carl Hempel. How does someone capable of that level of intellectual achievement consistently offer up so much revoltingly stupid garbage? Well it turns out that Fetzer is "ex-military:" he was in the Marine Corps and served as a second lieutenant. Might be mere coincidence but somehow I doubt it. Jones and Fetzer look like spooks to me who do what spooks often do: spread absurd disinfo nonsense everywhere they can for reasons that often aren't clear. Lest I be accused of hypocrisy for positing that spookery is involved here while attacking the conspiracy bullshit of Fetzer and Jones: I think that *blanket* dismissal of conspiracy theorizing isn't really tenable. This isn't something I say flippantly--I've spent a lot of time seriously considering the question of whether there is something wrong with conspiracy theorizing *as such,* a topic about which there's a surprisingly large academic literature. One of the best books defending conspiracy *theorizing* was recently put out by University of Michigan Press: Kurtis Hagen's *Conspiracy Theories and the Failure of Intellectual Critique.* I challenge anyone to read it and continue to argue that conspiracy theories are the preserve of idiots and cannot *in certain cases* be rationally maintained. The problem isn't conspiracy theorizing *as such* but rather the fact that the most visible conspiracy theories are either disinfo nonsense concocted by spooks or low-IQ drivel from people who have no idea what they're talking about.
2. Jesse Michels works for Peter Thiel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fXZZMKJ6S0. Thiel's Palantir Technologies is about as deep into the world of spookery as any business can be: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palantir_Technologies. That Michels' show is a sump for UFO disinfo carny fare (such as Skinwalker Ranch) and that it's veered into promoting spook-clown Alex Jones come as no surprise when one is aware of the facts just given. Every time spooks or spook-adjacent people enter UFO turf it's the same story: they promote silly useless theories and low-quality cases that are easily dismantled by debunkers while rigorously avoiding the evidence worth discussing.

3. Having said all of that I think it's nuts to dismiss someone as an "intellectual flyweight" because they have some bad or wrong ideas or because they're associated with losers/idiots etc.--and especially because of *moral* shortcomings. Michels himself might or might not be dumb--I'm making a broader point here. There is no shortage of geniuses in history who were either seriously morally deficient by today's standards or just beyond the pale completely. Martin Heidegger is one example often discussed on this blog. Philipp Lenard was a full-blown Nazi but was a sufficiently brilliant scientist that he won the Nobel Prize for Physics. Nietzsche is widely regarded as among the greatest philosophers who ever lived. Yet he was extraordinarily illiberal and saw the vast majority of people as virtually subhuman--quoting him: "There is among men as in every other animal species an excess of failures, of the sick, degenerating, infirm, who suffer necessarily; the successful cases are, among men, too, always the exception." I think my point is clear--inferring from "morally bad" to "dumb" just doesn't make sense. If we toss aside everyone with off-kilter ideas or unpleasant associates as irredeemably rotten then there won't be many people who are both smart and creative left. People with high intelligence and creative personalities tend to be unconventional and to get caught up in things that aren't acceptable to mainstream sensibilities. The results of that can be pretty bad but absolute intolerance of that sort of deviance isn't healthy.
