Read Nick's article with interest. Noted that he devoted a lot to his MIB theory which he gives the impression that many UFO events have this MIB component.
Since black tends to be a color portending issues of death, foreboding, calamity, etc, and this being more a Western cultural meaning, what about Eastern cultural use of the color white?
Do those UFO stories have Men/women in White components? White, for some cultures, denote the same meanings of death, bad luck, doom, etc.
Interesting two threads. Imho, two things must be distinguished. The one of the etymology of the term (correct or not?), and the one of the definition (correct or not?).
Concerning definition, if ufology is "the study of reports, visual records, physical evidence, and other phenomena related to unidentified flying objects (UFO)" (Wiki's one, but in any Dictionnary we will reach more or less the same), I think we will all agree for such a term. Skeptics, believers in UFO, are "ufologists" and making ufology according to the definition. That's why I'm to conserve the term. That's a circular definition. The object of the study is bad definited, not clear enough. And many UFO reports were identified after, despite they were part of "ufology". Sounds bizarre if not surrealist (useless field?)?
Yes, I do recall the posts Rich, but I was more interesting in Nick's response if he's willing. For example, in Asian UFO events (pretty broad scope, I know), are there men and/or women in white sights that portend a negative outcome? Jest curious about it from Nick's perspective.
Aside from MIB cases, I have a few cases of "Men in Brown" (but still turning up in UFO cases), some in white (as per Rich's comment) and a few in Grey. I'm not sure of overseas nations in terms of different colored clothing, but all the ones I have from Europe are MIB.
Nick thanks for your comment. I was curious to see if there was a broader interpretation of UFO events across the different cultural spectrum. These interpretations may have different religious or spiritual connotations or simple regional flavors of everyday life.

Hello,
Interesting two threads. Imho, two things must be distinguished. The one of the etymology of the term (correct or not?), and the one of the definition (correct or not?).

Etymology?
Well, ufologists defending the ETH (aka such reports, dataes, etc. means we are/were probably visited) are in fact collectors of cases, ruminators, conjecturors. Maybe UFOphilie (in French) would be more correct^^ despite containing "ad hominem" but it's time to wake up for some. Like there is philatelie, cartophilie, bibliophilie, cinéphilie, tyrosémiophilie... Philie in the sens "amateur de". I regret, but when you are examining "ufology", it is how this field is practiced by the majority of ufologists.
Ufosophie? then. :p
Regards,
Gilles

Hahahaha, Gilles....nicely put.
Tim, I did a thing here, at the blog, a while back, about Men (Women) in White as a counter to the MIB.
Use the search bracket, top left here, typing in Men in White or something, It should show up.

It's the human response that interests me.
