The Other Side of…..Death!

Copyright 2018, InterAmerica, Inc.
This doesn’t exactly have to do with UFOs, except for the “fact” that 3 UFO notables will die before year-end. (How do I know? I have a “book” that tells me so.)

But I’m prompted to put forward this posting, stimulated by some UFO pals who think ghosts are more important, more interesting, as a topic for action and discussion than UFOs are.

And those pals are youngish, not at death’s door as have been the geezers that I indicated, several years ago, would die and open UFOs to a younger, more vibrant crowd. The geezers died, but the younger crowd hasn’t come forward, at least not in any significant way.

As for ghosts and death, what puzzles me, after seeing a TV ad spotlighting a man with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), a horrible prelude to death, in which the man says life is amazing, wonderful…..try to hang on to it. (I paraphrase)

And life is wonderful…well for many of us, but not all. (See Gene Steinberg’s hassles.)

But if life on the other side is even more wonderful, as religionists tell us, why do Heaven’s hierarchs (the Virgin Mary, for example) appear, often, saying set up a church for me, pray the Rosary, often, and grow flowers in a spot so people can worship me there.

If life is so grand on the other side, why would an entity appear on this side asking for attention and favors? (See listings of alleged Mary visitations in the Rosales’ Humanoid series.)

But setting aside those Marian appearances, mostly delusional as I see it, why are dead people recurring as ghosts, that Paul Kimball and others are so fascinated by.

On the other side of life, one loses, if I understand my Jesuit training correctly. the desire for sexual activity, the senses of smell, taste, and touch, and an interest in things on this side, discounting the supposed Mary and ghost visits.

And if there is a “life” on the other side of this one, how is it that the great minds of humanity, that have passed on, haven’t been able to breach the apparent barrier that separates the living from the dead?

Do humans cease to exist when their bodies give up its animation? Or is their a restraint imposed upon spirits (souls), a restraint put in place by physical laws or a supreme being?

You mean to tell me that great thinkers, through the ages – the Greek philosophers, the Biblical oligarchs, famous modern philosophers and scientists…(you can name them) – haven’t been able to figure out a way to step back in to this sphere?

Is the death milieu so grand, Virgin Mary and the saints aside, that no one is spurred to return to our side of death’s door?

The whole matter is iffy, and open to debate, in some quarters anyway. And I’m not talking about ghosts. That delusion is so trite.

  • I don’t actually think “ghosts” are the spirits of dead people, a point I make repeatedly on Haunted, when I lecture, and in my book. Just an FYI.

  • The "ghost" phenomena has been the darling of TV and movies for the past 10 or so years. It appears to be the flavor of the times which certainly is over shadowing the UFO meme.

I suspect it will burn itself out, but this is not the first time as the spiritualist movement from the 1800s to the early 1900s had a good run time. Some of the papers/essays the were produced are interesting in their own right.

  • I definitely think there's something to the 'Stone Tape' theory where highly emotionally charged incidents and events are somehow 'recorded' at the location, to be 'played back' as it were when certain consciousnesses trigger them.

This would seem to explain incidents such as the 'Ghostly Airman' in WW2 uniform seen by a number of people during a tour of Dover Castle (an important wartime strategic 'nerve centre') and covered in ITV's 90s supernatural show 'Strange But True?'

A number of people claimed to have seen the airman standing to the side of the room (while the tour guide delivered the standard historical background info), most of them believing it to be 'part of the tour' with descriptions of his appearance seeming to tally.

What's perhaps more interesting is that other people (including the partner of the witness stood closest to the airman) apparently saw nothing, suggesting that 'ghosts' are some form of interaction between the consciousness of certain 'sensitive' individuals and some sort of 'energetic impressions' recorded at the site.

Discovery UK's series 'Ghost Hunters' (a rather sedate yet fascinating documentary series featuring witnesses and academics & definitely NOT the sensationalist US 'psychic investigators' series of the same name I hasten to add!) - featured an episode on Marston Moor, site of a bloody English Civil War battle.

Many people claimed to have witnessed bedraggled individuals apparently helping wounded colleagues away from the battlefield. Again one instance of this featured a couple driving home one night who stopped at a road junction adjacent to the battlefield. In the ditch, a few feet away, one of the occupants claimed she watched a man in a 'historic uniform' struggling to keep his companion upright who seemed the 'worse for wear'. This she claimed was a scene of complete clarity, assuming the two to be drunken revellers from a fancy dress party on their way home.

While watching this scene, she attempted to bring it to the attention of the driver, who despite the witness maintaining she could see them 'clear as day' in the car headlights, the driver strangely could see nothing.

Another famous case was the York plumber who witnessed a Roman Legion marching through the basement he was working in, who seemed both oblivious to his presence and were apparently walking at a historically lower, hidden ground level - their lower legs and feet disappearing into the current floor. His account was so detailed, it supposedly altered the accepted view of how British Legions were armed & equipped.

So I think there's definitely some sort of selective 'Stone Tape' effect taking place in cases like these with the possibility that only certain 'psychic' individuals will tap into them and experience such scenes.

I definitely DON'T think they're seeing the 'spirits' of the dead.
