Ufology’s Proto-Atheists

It’s the Ancient Alien/Astronaut crowd.
I try to watch The History Channel’s Ancient Aliens show
(older broadcasts on A&E network too), but it’s difficult to sit through
the offerings.
I’ve mentioned, here, the fellows who regularly offer
commentary for the program: Childress (who is fond of saying “You have to
wonder…”), Wilcock (whose crooked mouth, lopsided teeth are hard to accept
speaking verities), Martell (just sappy), and Tsoukalos (whose hair I like), et
al.
The hypothesis being, as you know, that extraterrestrials
visited this Earth in the past and (usually) provided aid and comfort to early
humans. The ETs were the “gods” that early man worshipped.
As a person steeped in theological precepts, I’m inclined to
see gods and God as the entities that interacted with humans early on (and
continually until the demise of Jesus/Christ).
To some, that is just as mad (crazy) as the ETH of the
ancient astronaut people.
But is it?
Following the theological precepts of Anselm and Teilhard de
Chardin, I accept a divine presence in the Universe or as the Universe, a
“being” or principle always in existence, eternal, omnipotent, omniscient,
infinite, “a being than which nothing greater can be conceived.”
Seeing the early manifestations of God (or the gods) in
ancient cultures (writings, languages, et cetera) as beings coming from the sky,
from other worlds is an easier belief system, for some, as it has a ring of
possibility about it, for them.
The system removes God as the center of creation in its
spurious way: God played no part in man’s creation and evolution is
side-stepped along the way.
The AA ETH is, of course, a possibility, but one that is
peculiar in that Earth, as I often note here, is so insignificant (remote in
the cosmos) that an advanced species spending time here, in the amount
proffered by the AA crowd, is an illogic, mad idea at the outset; supposed
advanced alien visitors would have to be insane to delve into human activity to
the extent that the AA people suggest.
But it remains a possibility.
An omniscient God interacting with humans is also a
possibility, one that stretches credulity, for some, also.
But how else can we accept our existence and reality? We and
everything that is had to come from somewhere and something (God).
Evolution doesn’t do it for me, even as I accept the
Darwinian process.
Unfortunately, the godhead worshipped by early man,
especially the Hebrews, was a demiurge (demiurgos).
This has caused theological, intellectual mayhem, and I
suggest it’s that mayhem which has permeated the thinking of the AA crowd who
have dispensed with God, thus becoming atheists in practice and their personal
reality.
The men spouting AA belief never approach the topic of
(their) atheism. It would kill their “movement” with many who follow them,
unknowing that the AA people are espousing a non-belief in God, the being at
the center of all religions extant.
When push comes to shove, most who visit here are God
believers I think and the AA movement is just a passing fancy clinging to the
UFO phenomenon, tenaciously but also tenuously, as the idea that visiting
aliens who once came here in droves apparently have not shown themselves since
the earliest of times, UFOs being vehicles, for some, of ETs come to visit passively,
without any interest in humans that one can see in the so-called UFO
visitations today.

I think those of us who believe in God - Jesus Christ, have nothing to be concerned about, in the "strength" of our faith, But, for what it's worth, just maybe.. just maybe, God - Jesus Christ, may be the definition of "extraterrestrial" meaning,- outside Earth, existing or coming from somewhere outside Earth and its atmosphere.. the heavens for example...the Cosmos!?
Thy will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven..
Pray, The Our Father; & take not of the words..

The AA theme was mostly...What if??? OR an opinion, to consider, and how close might that opinion, have been? we may never know, but it is something to think about.
The reason for the great flood & destruction, leaving the megalithic blocks of stone structures such as the Pyrsmids - huge stone Walls - Stone Henge, that stood strong & still do, the remanence of an ancient time, while the survival of mankind had to start all over again, leaving moden man (us) wondering, how the ancient ones in prehistory, managed to build in such megalithic structures in their time.
Obviously, they had help! You don't pull or push, up to 1300 ton stone blocks around without some help!? and I mean powerful help! This is what the AA is on about, where did the help come from. What was the help? How did they do it, when you consider that in today, with technological machinery, Technicians would have big problems moving that kind of tonnage around, so how did the ancient ones manage?
One way would be, to reduce the mass..right there, i'll leave it to your imagination
we are dealing with serious tonnage here, and if we were sure of the answer, we wouldn't have technical difficuilties today, lifting big tonnage.............

Are you proposed that God should be considered as an explanation for present-day UFO reports also? By your lights, it would be closed-minded not to.
On the other hand, God as an explanation is useless because it explains too much. God or his servants could do literally anything - he is, after all, ineffable. Every dispute about a UFO sighting would degenerate into theology.

David:
As I've long contended here (and elsewhere), God is "removed" from human activity, using Richard Friedman's "The Hidden Face of God" as my reference point.
So UFOs aren't to be considered when UFOs are being debated, and your point that such discussions would devolve into theological mish-mash is well-taken.

Thanks David, for your input, it is NOT a belief of mine, that which I have suggested, because I don't know, just a possibility, a passing thought, you may think; That I throw out there. Not just, God - Jesus Christ, but "Satan the Devil" as well!?..
It has been said for years now, in my lifetime, in your lifetime, in Richs lifetime,
that the return of the Antichrist is comming, and soon!..BUT..from where is he comming? if he's not already here!? if you can believe this at all.
From WHERE???..and where might that be?..
IF, this has any connection with the Cosmos & UFOs!? is my point..Some seem to think so!!............
