UFOs: The Ongoing Futility and Foolishness (2019)

Copyright 2018, InterAmerica, Inc.

I’m noticing, as are you I bet, that we UFO enthusiasts are struggling to keep UFOs in a spotlight, even a meager spotlight.

The phenomenon is being buried by existential [used in the current vernacular] exigencies that we (all) are subject to.

My UFO pals, Nick, Kevin, Jose and UFO non-pals, like Robbie, Greg, David, et al. are each bringing fluff to the UFO table, but even their meager efforts, like mine, have little or no cachet with anyone, and I actually mean everyone.

I sat in on an online TIUCC brain-storming session and discovered that there was not one whit of a new idea or UFO sighting that amounted to more than a hill of beans (as they used to say).

UFO crashes have become so impossibility-serious that to discuss them without laughing is itself impossible.

When I read my chum Kevin’s take on a frivolous 1897 airship newspaper account, it caused me to ask if he was celebrating the New Year early.

Then there was Bill Murphy’s Anomalist link to Robbie Graham’s excursion into Poland’s UFO sightings and reports. Poland!?

While immersed in the 1960-1964 and 2010-2015 listings of humanoid encounters by Albert Rosales for his swell Humanoid Encounters series, I noticed that each decade produced reports that were heavily entangled in that decade’s zeitgeist.

I had the impression, at first, that the encounters were inter-dimensional in nature but details made be give up that impression.

The humanoids were acting so goofy that they couldn’t exist in any real dimension except one that replicated an insane asylum.

The humanoids often told witnesses that they come from constellations or star systems that only we humans had given names to: Orion, the Pleiades, Coma Berenices, et cetera.

The (often) remembered encounters contain all kinds of odd associations that seem to support Jose Caravaca’s Distortion Theory. (I think Jose is really on to something.)

Every “ufologist” is trying to keep UFOs (flying saucers) afloat as a kind of Weltanschauung. But they are flailing and failing.

Since the History Channel is creating its own UFO mythos with the upcoming, flawed Project Blue Book “drama,” we should recognize that the UFO phenomenon has reached a nadir in relevance, and is now being presented to the masses as a folkloric indulgence for entertainment.

2019 will continue to frustrate serious UFO buffs, but it has always been thus so…

If the humanoids are speaking our language, then of cause, they would use the TERM; Orion, the Pleiades, Coma Berenices, et cetera.

To use by any other name, would not be understood by witnesses..

I take it, that they would be speaking, on the human level of understanding..

Only to the light minded skeptics, who wouldn't see the truth if they fell over it!!:)...........

  • Daniel:

An advanced species from elsewhere wouldn't tell a human being they came from a designated human source.

They'd tell a witness they came from their own designated planet or star system, it seems to me.

You have got to quit making excuses for the fantasied ETs you believe in.

  • Regarding History (Channel) Project Blue Book series, it should be viewed as pure entertainment. The usual escape from "reality" that science fiction has offered the general public for the last 100 years.

Personally, I'd rather watch repeat episodes from "highway to Hell" as this is more entertaining and based on the laws of physics.

Happy New Year Rich. May 2019 provide you more fodder for UFO discussions!

From your devoted reader, albeit your sporadic commentator.

  • Thank you Tim.

Happy New Year to you and yours also.

While your comments may be sparse, they represent quality over quantity.

  • Good morning, Rich:)..

-> They'd tell a witness they came from their own designated planet or star system <-

Soooo.... how would the witnesses know where that was, without some sort of reference in our own understanding of the universe!?..

-> You have got to quit making excuses for the fantasied ETs you believe in.<-

Incorrect, Rich! You forgot to use the word; "IF" I were to believe in ETs
which I don't! but only "hypothetically" speaking, as the reports indicate their existence. As you, your self, don't believe in ETs.. but still make your point about them, anyway!?..All good though,Rich! You give food for thought, and I love coming to this site every day, to read what opinions, if any, may be worth some consideration I hadn't thought of:)..........

  • Thank you Daniel:

In the New Year, which shall be a happy one for you (and me too, I hope), we'll see if I've found any UFO humanoid encounters wherein the "visitors" tell their witness the name of their star system or planetary abode.

  • RE ET visitors naming their home planets: UMMO, ERRA, AFFA, ... Surely further research can and will dig up more...

By Blogger Bryan Sentes, at Saturday, December 29, 2018

  • I mean, Bryan, that UFO humanoid visitors actually give a witness, a real name (which would likely not be an Earthian anacronym or alphabetical hodge-podge) and a locale that might be locatable by Earth's astronomers.

  • Hahaha!..I once heard a story of a human asking a "Tall-white ET" with a sense of humor..

Where do you all come from?

The tall-white replied, after some thought, if you humans don't know your Astronomy,
then there would be no point in us telling you, would there?:)..

lol He could have said; 50 light-year in that direction..you would be no better off, for having asked:)..

(UMMO,ERRA,AFFA)..Are you kidding, Bryan, or crowing:) hahaha!...........

  • Surely we've established by now that HUMANoids who seem to share a great deal of our physiology, breathe our atmosphere & speak our languages are NOT (nor ever were) ETs until they were 'rebranded' as such in the mid-20th Century.

I also don't think they're necessarily 'more advanced' - just 'different' with different motivations, aims and perspectives.

The nonsensical/irrational/incomprehensible 'information' they divulge has been a common thread of such encounters from the Renaissance (and long beforehand) to the 'Airship' crews of the late 19th century - none of which were viewed as, nor claimed to be, 'alien spacefarers' from distant galaxies - that's a VERY recent development.

As Alan Bates' 'John Keel' cipher 'Professor Leek' tells Richard Gere's character in 'The Mothman Prophecies' - 'you're not meant to know'.

It's part of the 'Trickster' current, or in the common UK vernacular - someone or something is 'taking the piss'.

  • And "The Trickster" is?

See Jung's "Answer to Job" Dr Dee for the answer.

  • Sorry - I don't buy the Jungian view on UFOs, the 'Trickster' or the 'Dark Side of God'. (Don't go over to the Dark Side Luke! :D )

I don't really see how an object on the visual display of a jet fighter - which the missile system has locked on to as a target - is the manifestation of a psycho-social need for spiritual meaning in an age of existential emptiness.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCaruUtiPHo

The 'Trickster' is a universal human cultural archetype - often a 'divine'/'mythic' figure who moves between worlds - the conscious & the unconscious, the 'supernatural' & the mundane, the 'real' & the 'unreal'.

He/She/It is the personification of the numinous & inexpicable 'other' - such as the irrational forces & phenomena seen in 'High Strangeness' UFO reports (see the Kentucky Goblins/Cenina 'Landing'/Imjarvi Incident etc, etc.) as well as the numerous aerial objects devoid of the basic aerodynamic necessities to stay airborne, let alone the 'impossible' speeds & capabilities they display.

The Trickster is a figure far more ancient than Christianity and a perhaps somewhat simplistic & primitive attempt to 'explain' the mechanics of the anomalous as the actions of some supernatural entity or entities that moves between (and merges) the realms of mundane material 'reality' & the 'spiritual'/supernatural & 'immaterial' world - one which we like to reassure ourselves is 'unreal' yet seems to persistently encroach upon & undermine this 'certainty'.

UFOs which themselves seem to exist on the boundary of the 'real' & the 'unreal', the scientifically 'provable' & that which constantly evades it, the 'subjective' delusions of 'psychosis' - which leaves physical evidence - all fit the fluid/paradoxical/indeterminate elements of the 'Trickster' narrative.

Whilst not believing in mythic 'Trickster' figures, the concept itself is still valid. The 'impossible' aerial objects (like those pursued & filmed in the AAITP footage) which ALWAYS remain just out of reach - together with their implausible occupants with their nonsensical 'information' & back stories who it would seem are evidently nothing more than - as Vallee notes - 'Messengers of Deception'

I don't really subscribe to Jung's Judeo-Christian 'quasi-religious' viewpoint on these things. I think 'God' is a wholly 'unsatisfactory' & simplistic human concept (like the Extra Terrestrial Hypothesis) - an omnipotent being who supposedly created ALL things - thus also his own 'enemy' Satan & 'Evil' (cue Jung's 'Dark Side of God').

I think 'Trickster' deities & folkloric figures are human attempts to simplify & thus comprehend the inexplicable & the (possibly deliberate)'trickery' & obfuscation that always seems to accompany 'anomalous phenomena', investigations into which the 'rational' & 'skeptical' invariably deem 'inconclusive' which is itself a Cop Out & wholly unsatisfactory.

Similarly the human proclivity for defining & categorising people, things, actions etc. as 'Good' or 'Evil' is again a simplistic & wholly unsatisfactory attempt to explain & understand that which often seems incomprehensible to us.

The supposed 'Evil' in the world (from Donald Trump to Earthquakes) isn't evidence of 'Satan' or Jung's 'Dark Side of God' - it's just the manifestations of largely ambivalent forces/intelligences that have their own agendas, mechanics & motives that really (when it comes down to it) just don't give a flying f*** about us. :D
