So many improbabilities, and so little space for them all.
The evolutionary argument is a killer. Evolution is unique
to Earth and all the appurtenances of this planet and this planet alone: the
geology, the chemistry, the planet’s orbit and moon, the creatures and plants
from which life emerges and progresses, et cetera, et cetera.
Darwin’s Theory only applies to Earth and only works for the
Earth.
Thus no species elsewhere in the Universe will experience
evolutionary progress, so any alleged visitor will not be as has been described
or imagined by humans.
And when ETs engage, supposedly, in telepathy to
communicate, they’d have to have the same brain configuration as humans, even as
science sees telepathy as improbable:
Then when a Navy pilot encounters a UFO being flown by
extraterrestrials some think, those ETs would not respond as they do – fly away
from the approaching aircraft.
They (the ETs) will not have that learned response. Running
away from impact is an Earthian response, learned by experience here and only
here.
ET’s would not have vocality like humans as they (the ETs)
will not have an evolved (see above) larynx or other vocal physicalities as we
do. Communication would be totally different, to the point of unrecognizability
by us.
That goes for writing too. Writing here, on Earth, is an
evolutionary tool also, developed by the human processes and practices over
millennia, the tools for it and the writing itself, unique to Earth.
Alien aircraft would not have lights – a human development –
or have colors as we do, the optical evolution unique to Earth and its Sun, not
to mention the biology.
To go on is superfluous. ETs and UFOs containing ETs are so
plainly ridiculous that to pursue the matter would be intellectual madness.

Rich, I've yet to read any book or see any film that tackles the idea of "alien-ness" in a truly unique way that eschews the concepts we're mired in that you've categorized. Limited by human imagination (not limitless, as many with stars in their eyes have proposed), it's an impossible task for author or filmmaker to convey.
Ted Chiang's "Story of Your Life" ("Arrival") is a decent attempt, but those aliens are not that unique (though the story is). "2001" and "Interstellar" cop out by not showing the aliens at all, and "Contact" uses the old saw of creating a human memory clone to shield their true nature. We can't think far enough outside the box, even using scientific method, to come up with a fresh take.
Seth Shostak of SETI teases that we're bound to make contact in just a few years, so all our questions should be answered in short order. Probably just in time for my Mr. Fusion power generator to come online.

Has anyone ever thought, that if aliens, or what ever "THEY" are, can make their craft invisible, that "THEY" individually, could be invisible themselves, and thus, be in amongst us,without us even knowing it..
How does the technology work? [briefly] Light is deflected around a mass,[a tangible Object] to continue on. We can only see an object when light is reflected from it, such as how radar works with a microwave transmission..
There are reports of craft suddenly appearing and then just as suddenly, disappearing!
The explanation for this; The cloaking device that makes the craft invisible, temporarily, experiences a glitch in its system, from a "nearby interference"
so we are not just dealing with what can be seen, but also with what can't be seen,
just to make it more interesting,from what I hear & read...........

@Ron - I think H.P. Lovecraft was the first sf/horror author to create and describe truly non-human 'alien' creatures and his unique influence can now be seen in everything from John Carpenter's remake of 'The Thing' to Guillermo Del Toro's take on 'Hellboy' (both of whom have admitted Lovecraft's influence on their work) as well as Chiang & Villeneuve's 'Arrival'.
As I've stated on numerous occasions - I do find myself in agreement with Nick Redfern, John Keel, Jacques Vallee etc, that the almost invariably (though not always) diminutive, humanoid 'aliens' would appear (completely illogically) to have independently evolved an almost identical physiology to our own as well as the ability to breathe our peculiarly unique mix of atmospheric gases whilst orbiting some incomprehensibly distant star. Their apparently ideal adaptation to Earth's biosphere means they cannot possibly be 'extra-terrestrials'.
Furthermore, nothing even as weird as an octopus is ever seemingly encountered in these supposed 'inter-galactic spacecraft'.
They are (as myself & the above-mentioned ufologists would argue) more likely to be 'Ultra-Terrestrials' rather than 'ETs' and the recent Nimitz/Roosevelt incidents suggest the unidentified objects in question emerged from & returned to the Sea, NOT 'Outer Space'.

DrDee, yes, Lovecraft broke new ground, but we've been stuck in that rut since. Niven was clever coming up with his Outsiders and Puppeteers, but their uniqueness lies in their entrepreneurial spirit rather than physiologies. Maybe we've overthought this and the bipedal form is universally workable, but I merely mention it in passing and am luke-warm to the idea for all the reasons enumerated above. Too many earthly elements keep intruding into our thoughts. Think of something really weird and it likely exists a thousand fathoms down in our oceans.
I agree there's a case to be made for the ultra-terrestrial and futurian models. They check lots of boxes except for the one about proof. (Though the U-T idea runs into a wall, for me, when it comes to explaining how an underground race could somehow master the sky. Oh well.)

It´s interesting that Astounding Science Fiction editor John W. Campbell wrote his story (Who Goes There, a basis for The Thing -films in 1938, a couple of years after Lovecraft´s At the Mountains of Madness. Both works feature Antarctica, ancient remains of an alien being(s), paranoia and a monster that´s stalking the characters.
And a funny thing, where was the Lovecraft´s story first published? In Astounding Stories...

Really? You claim to know that there are no living things on any of the many extrasolar planets (including the one recently shown to have water in its atmosphere and the right temperature for liquid water on the surface)? How could you possibly know that?
I'll agree that aliens are not likely to be humanoid, and are very unlikely to have telepathy that works with us. It is not likely that their evolution paralleled ours. But I cannot agree that their mere existence is at all unlikely.

Yes, most of the prominent contactees of the 1950s (and others) reported seeing space people or objects disappear, or space people become lost from view when there was no way they could have got anywhere out of view through normal means in the short space of time not in sight. Howard Menger took photographs of a space woman touching her belt and disappearing in front of his eyes (his account).
Then quite some time later, Budd Hopkins and Carol Rainey had a book published called 'Sight Unseen', in which they presented their findings in relation to alien abductees and invisibility. Budd Hopkins wrote to the effect that himself and David Jacobs were pioneers in bringing the whole matter to public attention, completely ignoring the many and varied accounts of the contactees and others in relation to invisibility and extraterrestrials, as well as ignoring prior published speculations on the subject from the likes of Brad Steiger.
