History Channel's Project Blue Book: Some still think it smells like roses

Tuesday's showing [2/11/20] was the usual travesty.

And I'm still seeing so-called ufologists and buffs lauding this outrageously bad show as if its the Second Coming.

That no one has organized a protest group to take the History Channel to task for the abomination goes to the pathetic lack of zeal when UFOs, UFO people, and UFO "facts" are egregiously misrepresented.

We UFO aficionados just sit back and let nonsense overwhelm the UFO topic, with some quidnuncs touting this example [Project Blue Book] as something worthwhile, even though it is laughable even as a bad fictional TV show.
Such palpable ignorance makes some of us heartsick.

  • If you remember, Rich, last year I thought the show was okay. It didn't stray too far into left field and I could separate the truth from the fiction. This year, not so much. It is appalling. The Roswell episodes had nothing to do with really and this last one, even the little blurb at the end was less than accurate. It's completely fiction and the only thing that seems to be real is that J. Allen Hynek was a real guy. They've lost me now, too... you might say, it's even worse than the last season of Game of Thrones (though it is a tough call).

  • And I saw at your blog, Kevin, that one of your fans, despite your accurate "review" of the show, still presses that canard that UFO newbies will go looking for the UFO stories that the show mutilates.

It doesn't work that way, as you well know. Newbies will remember the History Channel's take on the UFO events and will pass them on, down the road, as what "really" happened.

  • I agree, such offerings from the series is BAD, but I knew that after watching one or two episodes last year and have not watched since.

If your having "heartburn" about the show, do like me and NOT WATCH IT! Trust me, you'll feel a hell of a lot better. You can't save everyone from them selves.

@Zeke: You pretty much summed it up.

  • It was incomparably better before when it was called 'The X-Files'.
