I’m going to have to insist …

I’ve dug out a number of books I have on AI, but let me
concentrate on one I’ve subjected to discussion here, in the past:
Nick Bostrom’s SuperIntelligence: Paths,
Dangers, Strategies [Oxford University Press, 2014]
It’s a must-read to proceed with any intelligence here. I
quote from Nick’s Afterword, Page 324:
“ … I will just make one little remark – directed to new
owners of this paperback edition, and principally to those whose lives have
become so busy that they have ceased to actually read the books they
buy, except perhaps for a glance at the table of contents and the stuff at the
front and toward the back: namely, to point out … one cannot infer from a
simple page count what I believe. For instance, I dwell on risks more than on
potential upsides … this does not mean that I dismiss multipolar scenarios …
[or] how the control problem [of AI[
might be hard … but could equally turn out to be easy.” [2015]
If you want to proceed with this topic (and discussion) make
sure you’re providing some input from “experts” or notables who’ve dealt with
or are dealing with AI, currently if possible.
Don’t offer Ted Talks or YouTube videos and certainly no
internet links unless they are from reputable sources.
Here are a few papers you might peruse:

(The beginning of AI research is as important as the present
day’s outlines because prior thinking that has been discarded, and the reasons
for doing so, important to know so as to not replow that ground again.)

I recommend to your readers the work of Benjamin Goertzel.

He is doing the most innovative and important research on AI of anyone alive. If anybody will get the field out of the dead end it is in it will be Goertzel. But I hope AI does not develop much further!
