Those 16th Century UFO "Editorial Cartoons" [again]
Copyright 2020, InterAmerica, Inc.
A few months ago, after I wrote a piece proclaiming these (in)famous 16th Century broadsheets were "editorial cartoons" for the time period....
... my academically inclined pal Bryan Sentes offered a counter argument, indicating the broadsheets were actually representative drawings of what citizens of the day were inclined to see (or imagine -- his offering was somewhat unclear to me) in the skies overhead, not necessarily UFOs but"things." (meteorological and otherwise).
No matter what his view was or is, this drawing from the period...
... presented by Otto Billig (a Jung colleague) in this book [Page 136] ...
..explains what such drawings actually represented: see the caption.
I'm not asking or hoping that Bryan provide his views all over again. This picture and Dr. Billig's views, around it in his book, closes the matter.
And if you see UFOers calling the images actual drawings of UFO conflicts seen by the residents of Basel and Nuremberg, shrug them off and disregard their fanciful interpretation(s).
