This is a fascinating account by the FBI and a second by second account of what Zamora saw and did during this encounter. I still cannot make sense of the UFO in this case. It left marks in the ground in a wide rectangular pattern; several small shrubs were smoldering; it rose off of the ground with a roar and flames (sounds like rocket power); but, yet, flew soundlessly and silently away. What did the U.S. have then or even now that is rocket powered on take-off BUT can then fly silently away horizontally and at a fairly rapid pace? Some have speculated that it was a balloon but the loud roar that got Zamora to the cite in the first place; the lift-off from the ground and the rapid departure; none of this speaks balloon to me. Very strange...and never mind the symbol controversy!

The insignia (symbol) tells us the source of the "object."

Hate coming in late on this one...I agree on the symbol it's got to be terrestrial and the lift off with resulting fires the same.
The soundless departure was likely not soundless but just notably far less than a "takeoff thrust" afterburner that is tremendously loud -and shoots off flames!- but then seems silent when the thundering afterburners burners are disengaged.
Add in Zamora's surprise at such a technological encounter. It's understandable that the post lift off seemed silent but was in fact just relatively so.
