The tech-specs of UFOs
Copyright 2023, InterAmerica, Inc.
Our pal Dominick left a comment, in another spot here,
favoring this idea for determining what UFOs may be:
“Why not concentrate on that part of the UFO mystery that provides data and does not deal with illusions: Exotic UFOs that hover, perform right angle turns, and accelerate without noise...and show up on radar.”
Dominick ignoring my posting the other day lamenting the constant search for the UFO explanation that concentrates on those very things that Dom wishes to pursue.
UFO gambits and apparent futuristic maneuvers have been exam- ined and lauded, as I’ve noted, by almost every UFO enthusiast since 1947.
Those speeds, 90º turns, the ability to hover or even dive into waters, along with what seems a methodology to elude, not only our fastest airplanes, but our radar also go to an understanding of UFO abilities, but do not, as I continue to implore, tell us what UFOs are, their source, or what may be inside them.
That “data” that Dominick (and many, many others) drool over just do not tell us anything but that UFOs are an advanced something or other – my interest being that “other.”
If a super intelligent guy like Dom doesn’t grasp what I’m promo- ting, is there any chance that the UFO dolts and newbies will get my point?
Am I just an odd voice in the UFO wilderness exclaiming for some- thing that seems obvious to me but is not to others?
I insist that UFO people get with the idea that all the clamor about UFO tech-specs and where they show up, or how many seem to be flying overhead or in our seas is not germane….not by a long shot.
And until we humans get our hands on a UFO – if one hasn’t been got already – we’ll never know what the phenomenon is or means.
Meanwhile, as I wrote back to Dominick, the attendant material about so-called abductions or encounters allow for consideration of other pathologies or realities that should sate our desire to understand abnormalcy or as some would have it, the paranormal.
That is a fascination that will keep us mired in conjecture until someone in government tells us what they have in the way of UFOs (or UAP, if you must).

Until then, forget about the gyrations and antics of UFOs. Those showboating activities are for human titillation, by whom or what unanswered by the “data” Dominick is so enamored of.

Well done, Rich, but let me try a hypothetical on you. Let's assume that before astronomers determined that the earth went around the sun (and not the other way around) and before scientists determined that meteorites really did fall from the sky (and not the other way around), people would halucinate that both events were the product of ghosts, evil spirits and fairies. Indeed, let's further assume that an entire research agenda and literature developed around those spooky conjectures. What a mistake going down that avenue...what a giant waste of time and intellectual capital. The data from the alternative avenue, the hard scientific approach, would eventually prove fruitful...although it did not appear obvious at the beginning.
I would assert that we are still at the beginning of the UFO mystery. 70 years is a drop in the bucket; it took hundreds of years to figure out planetary riddiles, disease, and a host of other human problems. A final point. Perhaps it ALREADY has been figured out but the information is so traumatic that it cannot (ever?) be released. That's my default position by the way.

I get your point and position Dom...it's just that no one has really come forth with any UFO explanation of what UFOs may be but the ET explanation imaginatively gathered by extrapolating from the "data."
When they should take your default position -- which makes a lot of sense: the information is so traumatic that it cannot (ever?) be released."
Sort of like the JFK info.
Why I like Avi Loeb -- who appears to be tilting at windmills....he's saying something like, "you goddam government bastards won't tell us what you know so I'll gather some money and try to get to a downed UFO in the Pacific Ocean and show the public what they need to know."
This is akin to Musk's efforts in space and about Mars.
As goofy as he can be, he is also thumbing his nose at the keepers of the secrets that we, citizens, should have access to -- that we have a right to -- access of information that was gathered on our (taxed) dimes.
The problem with the UFO phenomenon lies in the apparent elusiveness that is endemic to them.
We can't get our hands on the things -- and the government has lucked out and gotten their hands on one (or some) but won't share that info with us because the government thinks it will bring chaos to society: religion, economics (your bailiwick), mass hysteria, all kinds of madnesses.
So, until Loeb (or Musk) gets a break -- and shares it, I hope -- we can play around with the substrate of the phenomenon -- the alleged appearance of ET entities, the supposed kidnappings, the residue left behind their visitations, and the fantasies they engender.

I gotta have a hardware fix. Give me those nuts and bolts. But the software you're talking about is interesting as well.

Maybe the UFO operates at the level of metaphor. This might explain the crashes. Who has not at the metaphorical level experienced crashing like a UFO - I mean for example an embarassing conversation, where one seeks the heights but crashes and burns amongst one's peers.

Fellows, I'm only saying that without any access to a UFO we can occupy ourselves with what the phenomenon has created by its mysterious appearances: those things noted, such as abductions and other fantasies.

Rich, we all want a UFO to look at. Maybe that is a universal wish?

Maybe, Tom....
UFOs, if they were really from an advanced species, would disintegrate upon "capture" or crash -- advanced species wouldn't be flying around in crashable spacecraft; that is, if a UFO is compromised, it would (should!) dissipate (or be totally incapable of being intruded upon, like Gort's craft in The Day the Earth Stood Still, a true, creative example of how a real advanced species would create their travel machines).
I'm trying not to not be silly, but a reasoning, intelligent species, able to create the advanced flying machines our pal Dominick, and others, think UFOs are, that species would have thought through the technological vicissitudes that might become assaulted by the dangerous trips they'd have to make or the dangers that could come from a primitive, warlike species (us.

You see, I have always assumed they crash deliberately. Maybe I should not make that assumption. My thinking is that the crash is a dissimulation, like David Attenborough's rolling defensively when he meets aggression from Gorillas - there are youtube videos of this.

In its wake, the phenomenon has created an intense human-generated cover-up. What's been left for us to contemplate is that the secret it contains must be at least as important.
As for The Day The Earth Stood Still, there are parts of the movie that still hold up. (But the benevolent-parent aspect of Klaatu's race isn't one of them. It's wishful thinking.)

What kills this topic for many of us is how easily so many of you slide into paranormal pursuits or conjectures. Now, you may say that at this point there is nothing but conjecture, to which I'd like to say, yeah, but there are conjectures and then there are conjectures. I get that you grow weary of the same old stuff, but really ... you've got a lot of deductive reasoning balanced, as they used to say, on the head of a pin. If it's balanced at all. Not to be overly critical, that's not my intent, just to speak up for those of us who still harbor some hope for a rational explanation. Whatever your take, I'd be hesitant to toss out a naturalistic explanation in favor of yet more fanciful speculation. May disappoint, but so be it.

Ron's comment is right on: "an intense human-generated cover-up".

"Maybe the UFO operates at the level of metaphor. This might explain the crashes."
That`s actually a brilliant idea! Maybe UFOs do crash so they can be seen as typical (stupid) gray aliens while at the same time they keep planning deeper things which we`re not aware at all?
OK, I take my pills now and stop disturbing this conversation...

JC, thanks for your comment. The crash is non-literal, it has to be. a) these creatures seem capable of doing anything anywhere b) the crashes occur near places of easy capture by the military. Hmmm, but nonetheless the captors are flattered. Flattery being a class of deception!
Maybe it is a commentary on the Biblical fall of man. Saucers *fall* in a strange pun on our Edenic lapse. This is perhaps how you say hello to a species actually flat on its face. Rock stars crash and burn. Economic crashes. Etc. Etc.
Politeness? Rudeness? Is their a psych team on arrival ready to discuss? Is it a language?
Tom.
