Is everyone off topic?

I get Google notices of UFO sightings, Ufology, Quantum
Physics, et cetera and notes from The Paracast, along with commentary
here and commentary at other blogs, such as Kevin Randle’s or Mysterious
Universe (Nick Redfern’s offerings), along with comments at a few of my
Facebook pages.
And I see that almost everyone is off topic.
That is, the topic under which they comment or the notice of
a topic is met with asides that have nothing to do with the topic under
consideration or at hand.
I wrote that Ken Arnold’s 1947 sighting was a hoax.
Response, from a credible UFO buff and pal? Did Bruce Maccabee provide new
documents in his book?
Nothing about my hoax allegation.
Then I see the schedule talk for this week’s Paracast
program. It’s about the recent Pentagon release, and ghosts plus other
tangential things.
Go to Kevin’s blog and see that he presents forensic
materials about a sighting and his followers will, more often than not, try to
take him away to other things.
UFO buffs can’t seem to stay on course, about sightings, old
or new. Their minds wander.
It’s no wonder that UFOs remain clouded; they are subjected,
as a phenomenon, to non-relevant discourse.
I have few UFO pals I respect for their thinking. The bulk
are just wanderers passing the night.
Skeptics, like Robert Sheaffer or Tim Printy, and UFO
aficionados, such as Kevin, or Nick Redfern, Bruce Maccabee, Micah Hanks, and a
few others, hew to the topic they’ve chosen to illuminate, while distracted UFO
adherents can’t stay the course, skipping to peripheral things that obscure the
points trying to be made.
Me? I often stray, within my own posts, so I shouldn’t be
calling the kettle black but it’s irksome when I do it, and the off-topic habit
has to be irksome to those trying to make a point to readers who don’t know how
to stay within the topic.
This made Richard Hall cranky, especially with UFO Updaters.
And while I can accept off-topic asides – they sometimes
point me in directions that become interesting – they have got to make real
thinkers irate.
So stop doing it, you irrational rascals.

There is one ceaseless and VERY tiresome topic over here, totally unconnected to anything and everything to do with UFOs.
The name of this topic (just in case you hadn't guessed) is BREXIT. There you are, I've said it. Now I'll shut up!

It's true, with shameless abandon i've wandered off topic to describe an unrelated thought here and at KRandle's blog. The burden of guilt weighs heavy on my powerful shoulders.
Here I will wander to the repetition we keep seeing, not in words and detail, but just in Ufological subject. I may have little or nothing to say about another post on Roswell or Aztec or the Hills or Ghost rockets or Foo-fighters (and so-on and so-forth. Yet some other ufological thought or theory may take me just as I am looking into the corpse of the dead yet well-flogged horse.
I will feel it that I should share these ideas, as little as they may have to do with the posted subject, to get folks thinking, to stir debate. More often, probably, it is seen as a distraction to the discussion that is flowing from the purpose of the poster.
On the other hand, I have been given credit before by bloggers who see something worth reading in my words, as off-topic as they may be.
Staying on subject can be so helpful, this is the subject our host has raised and wished to open to other ideas that we may, together, all understand the posted subject better.
On the other hand, staying on subject or straying aimlessly, it remains that if ANYONE ever gains ANYTHING from ANY of my comments, i'm glad about that.
An easy topic to stay with, thank you RR.
