Earth is a lonely, insignificant planet

Copyright 2018, InterAmerica, Inc.
A portion of our galaxy, The Milky Way.

That an advanced civilization from elsewhere in our galaxy or the Universe itself would seek us out or even find us is delusional.

I grant you that an ET extant race, close by, could account for some UFO visitations, but to hold out for a wholesale escapade of ET space-craft flitting around our skies (and sometimes landing) is lunacy of a serious kind.

Click on the image above (to enlarge it) and be awed by how insignificant (to others) we are.

  • We are not insignificant if we are one of the very few planets with abundant water and, hence, life.

By Blogger Dominick, at Monday, February 12, 2018

  • But it seems we are not unique when it comes to those attributes: water and (possible) life, Dominick.

  • What Rich is implying, is we are the only Flower, in the fruit orchard of our galaxy or the Universe, that bear the fruits of thy labour.

The "only Flower" in the orchard of life? (Come on?)

The Bees are buzzing, and the reports in witness, hold the honey, the Sceptics miss out:)...

Keep an opened mind, you own it! not the Sceptics!..............

  • RR,

We've been down this road, you and I -and others- of this notion of your of this planet being insignificant before.

Being one planet of one star out of "zillions" makes us insignificant in number but in terms of being a life rich planet that takes away that ratio entirely -go for intelligent life ever greater As far as we know, and may ever know, this is THE planet amid the rocks and gas giants.,

Short of our UFO topic and a SETI success we are for all we know, the center of the universe in terms of life and perhaps even by location as the universe stretches out infinitely in all directions. We are in the Garden of Eden by all physical observations.

Sure, numerically in that vastness there must be others yet, and perhaps ever, to be searched for without any real definition of success.

That superior others with their superior technology might find us first is the hope in our topic past, present and future. But I still haven't given up on SETI.

  • My oh my, we humans think we (and our Earth) are the summum bonum of existence and life.

    It's a madness, as I keep iterating......sheer madness!

    RR

By Blogger RRRGroup, at Monday, February 12, 2018

  • Only sheer madness, if that's the only thing your looking for. You seem to be so focused on the negative side of humanity, that you overlook those whom are close to you on a daily basis, with the right to hold their own view or opinion, apposed to yours.

"Madness" is an offensive term for a psychiatric disorder, which means no one can have "their own view" without being called, "sheer madness;" by you!!............

By Blogger Daniel, at Tuesday, February 13, 2018

  • Madness, Daniel, and how I use it, falls into the academic category exemplified by Foucault, Scull, et al.

I expect readers here to be up to snuff about such intellectualized matters so they can be discussed rationally.

Don't take such views personally. They are merely advanced here to promote debate.

  • Indeed RR, but madness is also a directional perspective. It depends on which side of the perspective you start from.

Denial is its own madness from my perspective and the perspective of other observers and those open to discovery without being mesmerized by it to the point of an inverse denial. Observation and reasonable open mindedness confronts the null hypothesis of closed minded blanket rejection.

Thus the madness abounds. "All the world but me and thee..."

  • "for a wholesale escapade of ET space-craft flitting around our skies"-
That is why in recent years the ufo lore has become more dimensional and psychological. EVERYBODY has a camera now, as far as photographic evidence, we have f*ck all!! And daniel, again, an opinion is not a fact. Insignifiance in this abstract view has to do more with statistics and time. And reflected to the scale of the universe, we are but a miette de pain. Some people in fact, do find our world insignifiant to death.
I do like to call some people insignificant but it's my opinion, and that can't really be proven.

By Blogger Unknown, at Tuesday, February 13, 2018

  • Fellows....

I'm not looking at or shiving [sic] people who think that life exists elsewhere in the universe (or galaxy).

What emotes me is the idea that ETs would be coming here in droves, as the "reportage" seems to indicate.

    It's ludicrous.

In all of creation is Earth the stand-out? The pinnacle of existence?

Wouldn't it seem likely that the supposed ETs galavanting around Earth would have better things to do, better places (more dynamic places) satiating their assumed curiosity?

Somehow UFO buffs of the ETH persuasion think they (and Earth) are so fantastic that ETs are obsessed to come here.

I grant you, it's a possibility but only that: a possibility.

To hang one's thinking cap on the idea that lots of ETs are coming here en masse is madness, of the Foucaultian kind.

    It really is.

-> And daniel, again, an opinion is not a fact.<-

Dubious, What makes you think that my opinion is not a fact, as if I didn't know.
My opinion is a personal view, not a fact! Matter of Fact IS; The world was once flat! That was once thought to be a Fact,NOW,we know it to be round! That's a Fact.

In my opinion, dubious, It's BOTH! "Flat & Round" This is my opinion, within a Fact.
It's all in how you view it. Where you are in viewing the Earth. That's a Fact in my opinion. Now that you understand my line of thinking, there is no need to remind me a third time...A Fact,is something known to be true, but also can be upgraded.

My Opinion is just that, my personal view, only!...

    Rich:

-> Wouldn't it seem likely that the supposed ETs gallivanting around Earth would have better things to do, better places (more dynamic places) satiating their assumed curiosity? <-

Well that's the thing Rich, Why are they here? We don't know, and we need too.
Ok,:) As madness & ludicrous as you say, then; Why so many Reports, that's caught the UFO attention around the world, not just in one Country, but all of them!?
The US. GB. Russia, being some of the main Countries in discussion on UFO.

Some of these reports are so compelling, it leaves you thinking, what the hell is going on in this world, they can't all be wrong or mistaken, "ESPECIALLY" when you have seen a curious thing, yourself, along with some of the others here on this Web-site of yours.

Something mysterious or/and secretive is going on, and we want to know...........

By Blogger Daniel, at Wednesday, February 14, 2018

  • Daniel:

Yes, we all want to know what UFOs are or mean.

But that doesn't accrue to the loopy (mad) thinking that accompanies the curiosity.

That's my grind....how people go from being curious to being illogical to the point that one sees them as (almost) mad.

You've got to read Foucault or Scull....maybe Szasz.

  • Rich:

-> That's my grind....how people go from being curious to being illogical to the point that one sees them as (almost) mad.<-

Wouldn't this mean your definition of "illogical" in contrast to your comment?

In other words, what do you mean by; "illogical" as you see it?

We all know that "illogical" means unreasonable, in not following the rules of logic, but what logic are you referring to?...to be clear in what you mean by illogical...

    ***

    Also Rich,

I have given some thought to your above comment:...

-> What emotes me is the idea that ETs would be coming here in droves, as the "reportage" seems to indicate.

    It's ludicrous.<-

    - "As the "reportage seems to indicate." - Right there! may be in question?

IF one UFO was to have been seen by 100 people, for example you understand, you might get something up to,a 100 reports, (but only one UFO) would have been seen anywhere around the world, in a very short period of time, by many, "thus" many reports, and not in the droves you imply. In other words, more Reports than the actual number of UFO............?

By Blogger Daniel, at Wednesday, February 14, 2018

  • Daniel:

The litany of UFO and flying saucer reports, just since 1947, would indicate that the things are here and still coming en masse.

You seem remiss in understanding the totality of UFO sightings that have been registered over the years.

That alone -- the number of "reports" -- rules out, logically or sensibly, an ET armada.

If an advanced civilization from elsewhere were actually visiting Earth in the numbers that reports indicate, that civilization wouldn't be advanced but itself mad.

Don't muck up the number of sightings, Daniel, by asserting that a hundred people account for one UFO.

The UFO sightings, themselves, alone, one at a time, are too numerous to make ET sense.

Please read how "madness" afflicts "normal" people.

  • Daniel: They thought it was flat... they thought it was a fact... the Russians and others are looking into it... that's a fact in my opinion.... a fact can be upgraded. Yes I'm starting to understand your line of thinking, you are switching facts with hypothesis. To upgrade a fact is to actually confirm an hypothesis by proof. Here's the key word, proof. If a nation wants to look into UFO, they are investigating and assembling data. It's not because of their actions that we think that alien exist. I don't think unicorns are living anywhere, if national geographic sends a research team to look for them, it's not a confirmation of their existence, only research.

I don't need to read all that rubbish, I feel just fine thank you. You really can be condescending!! I've lived a lifetime to know better than that BS.
The fact is, we all have our own mind, so I put it to rest for now. Its going nowhere............

Arrr! But do you have enough faith, to believe in the proof? If so, why do you not believe in God?.............

  • Rubbish, Daniel?

You are really an ill-read person....that's not a slam of you, just an observation.

If you want to debate here, or anywhere, you have to have the goods, not just street smarts.

    Just an opinion.

    RR

By Blogger RRRGroup, at Wednesday, February 14, 2018

  • Rich:

In light of what has just transpired, neither of us have the goods, as you call it.
I've had a lifetime of what you call, "just street smarts" and its served me well.
I'm fine with your opinion, just that you are a hard man to understand, so its apparent to me, that we agree to disagree..................

By Blogger Daniel, at Thursday, February 15, 2018

  • What? What now? the absence of proof is proof of absence ? Throwing in god? Pe-lease, daniel, don't throw me your classical logic fallacies
"Another way that Men ordinarily use to drive others, and force them to submit their Judgments, and receive the Opinion in debate, is to require the Adversary to admit what they allege as a Proof, or assign a better. And this I call Argumentum ad Ignorantiam" —John Lock

As I say for starters, we can formulate this logic equation. If we reverse the proposition on a mathematical level ( like a negative image, it's the same scenery..... ) it stays equal. Like x=y and -x=-y, the equation is still true. In this case it become abundance of evidence is evidence of abundance, see it now....

And Rich, to down tone Szasz for daniel, " speaking to god, is praying, hearing god is schizophrenic"

    Daniel, you are trolling...

By Blogger Unknown, at Thursday, February 15, 2018

  • Daniel...

No matter what, I luv ya.

You offer interesting asides and debate points.

I'm a hound about reading, have always been so, but street smarts and common sense are not to be denied (as useful to life and intelligence).

  • [the idea of]"ET space-craft flitting around our skies...is lunacy of a serious kind."

Not only are visiting spacecraft unnecessary to explain why people fail to identify things in the sky--that's the whole of the absurd "UFO" myth--the ETH is the least likely explanation.

This astronomical fact should make the idea "UFO" relatively uninteresting to most. But it's those who can't understand or refuse to accept this reality that keeps the idea "UFO" alive, but just barely.

By Blogger zoamchomsky, at Thursday, February 15, 2018

  • Gosh! I take a few days and come back to find our believers whining about skeptics and the Null hypothesis. That's different.

And what does it get them, ever?

    Nothing.

Funny how the advocates of the Null and Psychosocial hypotheses have ALL the evidence: over a century of "UFO" panics, waves, hysterias, and scares but not one REAL "UFO" of any kind--much less an ET spacecraft.

    Too bad.

By Blogger zoamchomsky, at Thursday, February 15, 2018

  • But Zoam...

UFOs are such a delicious myth, yes?

You (I and others) are immersed in it more than it seems to be deserving, according to your null hypothesis.

    RR

By Blogger RRRGroup, at Thursday, February 15, 2018

  • Yes, a delicious myth, a false belief or idea. And no, the Null hypothesis is the foundation for the PSH: over a century of completely imaginary subjective reality.

The idea "UFO" is the hum of the presses, static in the wires, an aerospace noise.

    No signal, just noise.

By Blogger Jerry Cornelius, at Saturday, February 17, 2018

You may be on to something....ETs may not be rational in the sense of rationality as we Earthlings see it.

They may be "insane" as we see insanity.
