Is UFO “history” really important?
Copyright 2022, InterAmerica, Inc.
Jan Aldrich left a note on Facebook writing that “UFO
History is Important.” But is it, really?
Jan,, along with Isaac Koi, and a few other UFO folks, fill their FB pages with reams of past UFO accounts, Jan and Isaac determined to archive as many flying saucer periodicals and detritus as they can recover.
And while much they recover is interesting and little known, is it truly important, in 2022?
We all have old books and magazines, along with newspaper reports, even some tape recordings or videos from TV showings, and YouTube is replete with old UFO material.
But is anyone really scouring this cobwebby stuff, looking for an answer to the UFO mystery? Not many, I bet.
We have all moved on, spurred to new anticipation and thought provoked by the AATIP videos and the natural accretion of current activity within and without the UFO community.
All history is delightful to encounter, isn’t it? But does it matter in our daily, new struggle to understand who we are and what reality we are actually confronting?
The desire to reclaim, via nostalgic reminiscence, old feelings of excitement or pleasure is grist for psychotherapy of some kind.
As we evolve and supposedly those alleged aliens flying around in odd aircraft moving forward in their study of humankind and this planet, past events – UFO history – is a pastime, worth little, except to sate a desire for one’s youth, when life was glorious and innocent.
Today, we have grown up, matured – well a few anyway – and the contingencies of our present existence can be little affected by the pleasantries of past flying saucer events, no matter how hard some try to take us back to the stupidities and foolishness of what is called UFO history.
That history has nothing to do with what UFOs portend today – nothing!

In my opinion, for what it's worth, YES! it is important..Why?..
NASA. Says there is no life found out there, as yet!?..WHY?..When we have a UFO/UAP History world-wide.Who's are they? Where do they come from? What are they? Why are they here? It is now accepted, that UFO ARE here, and REAL,BUT from WHERE?
What influence do these things have,on the world, that WE, are not aware of?
While the SETI Institute has more than 100 research scientists investigating the nature of the universe and the prevalence of life beyond Earth, and all they so far,can come up with, is a "WOW signal" and nothing more.
Why would all this money be spent, looking for life out there if it wasn't that
important?...NO,there is something more going on that we need to know & understand.
We may not know it all, but know enough to suspect, there is more importants to this, than meets the eye............

I must agree we are in suspense of the new recognitions and reporting.
While rehashing old events pale in comparison to the considerations of the new evidence there are certainly enduring reports, especially those of multiple observers.
Favorites of mine are the Phoenix Lights, the enormous "black triangles", and the Japan Airlines sighting of "as big as an aircraft carrier."
We don't hear much of flying saucers these days...

Daniel, please be kind to the SETI folk.
They're doing the 'conservative science' thing that I still support while acknowledging the new UFOs direction. It's just different perspectives and methodologies. We need both.

Hi Bryan:
Don't get me wrong, the SETI folk are OK with me,it is good work they do,with room for improvement, just that I feel we are not being told everything, only what they want us to think..and Yes, the Phoenix Lights, the enormous "black triangles", and the Japan Airlines sighting, "as big as an aircraft carrier, but Bryan, where did all these things come from, if it's said there's no life found out there as yet!? That's how important the question is,considering the money spent looking for an answer..........?

"We don't hear much of flying saucers these days..."
Re: one aspect of the evolution of the phenomenon, we've gone from the fleshed-out and substantive "flying disc" and "saucer" to homogenized acronyms containing "unidentified." So we've actually moved backward. Some folks were afraid of history because of what it reveals and came up with sugar-coated meh. We should bring back flying disc and get on with it.*
*Of course that won't happen, but we shouldn't forget where we came from since there's truth there.

It is odd how descriptions in sighting reports have changed. Of course military development explains some of that.
While we are waiting for some military disclosure -that may really never really happen- it has to be remembered that in a number of past reports found government people coming in and taking tapes even on Navy ships. Those tapes don't require in-house research just a fessing up.

John Greenewald has posted FOIA documents from the Navy about UAP encounters, but even more interesting are the accompanying photos of the object. As he says, they look familiar.

Could it be suggested, that the description change, in some crafts that are seen, may be for different functions, likened to our road vehicles..
Some craft, may not even be craft, but "Time Machines" seen as a craft,in the change of desciption..for example!?.........?

The photos come without particulars. They were apparently taken by a USN SNOOPIE Team from the guided missile destroyer USS Stout during one encounter. A quick Google search comes up with a design that's similar to the Phantom 4 Pro commercial drone from the company DJI based in China. However, without size/scale data it's impossible to claim a definitive match. I also don't know if the design is proprietary or something that's been around in the marketplace or military stockpiles.

Good job Ron,
Yes, looks just like the DJI Phantom 4 but there are others quite similar and some larger and smaller [I have a smaller DGI version].
Regardless, it clear that indeed these are just terrestrial drones -be they in use for whatever, fun, spying... -But not the UFOs of our interest here.

Bryan, it's not a stretch to imagine a version with all the military bells and whistles. The culprit is not hard to figure out either. There's no longer any doubt the Pentagon knows what's up.
Talk about a drone swarm: This declassification of information should cause an uproar in Congress which could eventually lead to an increase in the Navy's budget while also moving the UFO problem to the back burner. Kudos to the Pentagon for orchestrating something like that.

It is rather obvious, that the archiving of social-media information (journals, papers, reports, emails etc) cannot contribute to a final resolution of the UFO phenomenon. Even if we consider material from the previous centuries (18th, 19th etc) which might provide more descriptive cues of what people were seeing in the past, the actual gain of knowledge has no significant impact on the topic we are addressing.
This aspect has been discuss many times in this blog, but I am afraid that unless a "craft" lands somewhere in the open, we will not understand with what we are dealing with. And of course this option does not mean that all strange UFO observations lie under the umbrella of inter-dimensional vehicles and inter-stellar crafts.
I encourage the collection of UFO material, that Isaac is promoting, as a means to understand culturally our reaction to the Phenomenon in the context of our time-period. I am sure, that future sociologists will unveiled particular and probably important social trends, from the ways we have reacted to the presence of "UFOs".

Stav...
Material related to human reaction to UFO sightings or anything else is a complete waste of time. Sorry.
The whole of human history with UFOs is a side-bar to the enigma.
Don't waste your time on it and Isaac's efforts, as commendable as they may be, are straws in the wind.
They are an effort in futility.
