Stupidity, in a highly regarded magazine?

I grabbed this book for delivery tomorrow [4/24]. The purchase is for a piece about the waywardness -- once more -- of society right now and how that waywardness is affecting the UFO community:

This came about from The New Yorker presentation of this as "art":

Yes, art lies in the eye(s) of the beholder but if this is art, I'll eat that issue of the magazine.

I'm cranky with the spate of UFO materials that end up with the Facebook UFO crowd too.

The time consumed by many, who are wastrels of their lives, is inordinate. Don't they want to express something worthwhile?

(And here I am, posting stuff that is just as banal or worse.)
