Jan Aldrich placed this on Facebook 8/7 (I think it's newsworthy)
UFO-Sweden got this from Sue Gough tonight (Swedish time):
You may attribute the below to me as Sue Gough, Department of
Defense spokesperson:
“The Department is aware of Dr. Kirkpatrick’s post, which are
his personal opinions expressed in his capacity as a private citizen and we won’t
comment directly on the contents of the post. We do want to reinforce the
Department’s unwavering commitment to openness and accountability to the
American people and Congress. The dedicated military service members, civilian
personnel, and federal contractors who support AARO’s efforts are deserving of
the full confidence of our lawmakers and the American public. While much
remains to be done to fulfill AARO’s mandate, AARO’s committed team has made
great progress since its establishment only a year ago.”
Additionally, to help with your stories, you may the
attribute the below to me also:
• AARO welcomes the opportunity to speak with any former or
current government employee or contractor who believes they have information
relevant to the congressionally-mandated historical review, and AARO has
established a safe and secure process for individuals to come forward with
information to aid in this effort.
• The Department has no information that any individual has
been harmed or killed as a result of providing information to AARO. Any unsubstantiated
claims that individuals have been harmed or killed in the process of providing
information to AARO will serve to discourage individuals with relevant
information from coming forward to aid in AARO’s efforts.
• To date, AARO has not discovered any verifiable information
to substantiate claims that any programs regarding the possession or
reverse-engineering of extraterrestrial materials have existed in the past or
exist currently.
• DoD is committed to timely and thorough reporting to
Congress, and to transparency with the American public. Since its
establishment, DoD has kept Congress fully and currently informed of AARO’s
activities and findings at all levels of classification.
• AARO looks forward to increasing the public’s understanding
of UAP through the declassification of historical and contemporary UAP
information.
Regards,
Sue Gough

3 Comments:
Kirkpatrick is commenting on his job and the people he works with (doesn't sound like a private citizen to me), but he posted his remarks outside of DoD channels, therefore Gough can claim he's a private citizen and technically keep the Pentagon clear of responsibility. The letter is disingenuous PR, something she's a master at, among other things. It's all a crock, and the public should be the ones who feel insulted. Anyone suggesting the government position is softening should be referred to this sign of continuing intransigence.
But why is Aldrich posting this now like breaking news? The comments have been around in the public realm since just after the hearing.

It just popped up on my FB feed Ron, and it was posted about an hour ago...
I think Jan got this from Clas Svahn who maybe just got it in Sweden last night as Jan indicates in his heading.

They're only a week or so behind, plenty of time to catch up since the train hasn't quite left the station.
Between the statement and the media's non-reaction to events (as noted in your latest post linking to The Observer), I'm once again thoroughly galled at the course of events. They all need slaps upside the head to break out of their lunkheaded, scripted notions of how things stand.
