And now for something NOT completely different...

Spanish UFO researcher and our colleague Jose Antonio Caravaca provides a 1950 flying saucer story that connects with (or seems to) the Scully account in Behind the Flying Saucers:

In  May 1950. in close proximity to General Acha (province of La Pampa), an Italian architect, 44, was traveling in a  deserted region when he encountered an artifact on the ground, about 50 meters from the road.

He entered the device and found 3 little people sitting around an instrument panel. This was his testimony to the press:

"In the center of the cabin, which measured about 3.50 m in diameter, there was a strange seat occupied by a man of 1.20 m 1.40 m tall, dressed in one lead gray suit, his round head, with long light hair, was leaning on his chest.

The hands, well formed and lightly snuff colored rested on two handles (levers) that came from a black box that was a few inches from his body.

His face was the color of his hands. He had a shapely nose with no mustache above the lips and hairless cheeks.

The eyes were large, very dilated and glassy.

Body shapes were perfectly human…He looked like a 15 year old teenager, but with the features of a man. He was a dwarf-like.

I touched his arm which was stiff and the figure was cold.

His suit at the neck was tightly closed and the same on the wrists.

The feet were lightly supported on two tubes attached to the support floor.

The clothing seemed to be made of hard leather and was inflated in the shoulders, giving the pilot the look of a rugby player.

The chair was of a form appropriate to supporting the body and was a red vermilion color, supported by a central shaft.

A black box that the pilot had before him looked like a dashboard, measuring about 1 m high and 0.80 m wide, in which were two 'cat eyes', the kind you see on certain radio equipment.

Below this board and just above the feet was a broad horizontal band with a vertical needle and strange signs that seemed to signify numbers.

To the right of the pilot was a little board with a semi-opaque disk that looked like a television screen turned off "

The next day he returned with some friends to the crash site and found only a heap of ashes and flying above it a cigar-shaped object, which left two small flying saucers.

In December 1958 Coral E. Lorenzen, APRO UFO organization, in an article published in the journal of Ray Palmer's Flying Saucers talked to the witness and was able to reveal his real name: Enrico Carotenuto Bossa.

The first news of this incident was published by the newspaper El Universal, Caracas, Venezuela, Saturday, May 7, 1955. It was case not investigated in Argentina.

It has suspicious similarities with elements in Scully's book, and some drawings are similar to Adamski’s encounters.

A maneuver to create a false incident, similar to Aztec, outside the United States, by the authorities and U.S. intelligence agencies? The witness was an agent of disinformation ....

Ufologist Horacio González Ganteaume wrote in his book Platillos Voladores en Venezuela (1961) that the witness had a fever and his skin was covered in blisters after his encounter with the flying saucer.

He also had greenish spots on the skin which disappeared with the use of a drug.

His face had red marks in the shape of glasses. A doctor examined him with a Geiger counter but did not detect anything abnormal.

 The doctors did not know the causes of his illness.

The witness, Enrico Carotenuto Bossa, was a former fighter pilot of Italian Air Force during the Second World War, an architect by profession, and had a doctorate in aeronautical engineering ...

Was he a secret agent of the U.S. government?
