Graham Hancock is, I believe, the prominent progenitor of
the “advanced human societies before the one’s we know” thinking – the “mother
culture” from which sprang human civilizations.
Yes, I know that, as Wikipedia states, his ideas are
pseudo-scientific and he is anathema among “scholars” of the various establishment
sciences.
But if one removes the ET taint of the Ancient
Astronaut/Alien crowd, and replace their premise – ETs created all the oddities
one finds in the world and can’t explain – one will enjoy a kind of comfort in
Mr. Hancock’s ideas.
Yes, human pre-primitive achievements were not technically
advanced but the megaliths and artifacts and thought processes, as best as can
be determined, that appear strangely out-of-sync with what was achieved by
ancient man, indicate something may have preceded what our civilization was
capable of and what it accomplished somewhat after about 10,000 B.C.
The underground and underwater structures and some blatant
artifacts would seem to have a premise based on knowledge that was once known,
and showing up in situ or in ancient texts that have gone missing
because of human destruction or environmental catastrophes: the fire that wiped
out the works in the Library of Alexandria [48 B.C.] or the Eruption of
Vesuvius [79 A.D.], not to mention the great flood registered in ancient texts
as a “mythic” event that “destroyed the (known) world.
The Göbekli Tepe structures indicate a pre-10,000 society
with an interesting, and out-of-sync mind-set just before the Sumerian
(Mesopotamian) societies appeared, from which we have records and evidence.
If one takes Erich von Däniken’s “theories” in Chariots of
the Gods? and supplant them, replace them, with Graham Hancock’s thinking, the
idea of an earlier, brighter humanity was extant on the Earth, one will have something not as rabid as the ET thesis.
But what happened to that earlier, brighter example of the
human species, one that came about millions of years ago, and from which sprang
the odd findings that AA theorists ascribe to extraterrestrial visitations?
Neither the ET visitors nor the pre-10,000 “humans” left what
could be called advanced elements of their civilizations.
The artifacts and remnants left behind or not destroyed by
time and cataclysm do not show up, anywhere; there are no vehicles or buildings
of a non-primitive kind, and certainly no TV sets or computers and phones.
There is nothing made of metals that would last, iron,
copper, or aluminum, nothing.
No, the so-called advanced “humans” that the AA crowd says
created nuclear weapons or Graham Hancock has put his reputation on left
nothing of an advanced nature, nothing.
But there is something: rock formations that irk by their
specific placements or attitudes, and hints of a race that later humans thought
were gods.
It’s all a matter of interpretation. And Graham Hancock is
not out of place or reason by suggesting it.
Now the Ancient Astronaut/Alien people, that’s another
matter.
