Earth: A place to behold, by the gods or ETs?

The Aeon link, in a posting below, about the
significance of Earth (or not) sent to me from my Canadian pal, Bryan Sentes,
accentuates the ongoing debate in academic and intellectual circles about who
we are and what this planet is in the great scheme of things.
Even a review, by Kelly Grovier, of a new book about Richard Dorment and his art reviews in the
U.K.’s Daily Telegraph (newspaper),
in The Times Literary Supplement for June 16, 2017 [Page 31] mentions a Dorment
comment about a painting by contemporary Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur
Eliasson, The Weather Project (2003) that is relevant:
“Dorment describes [the painting] as a ‘cataclysmic beauty’
in which ‘we sense our insignificant place within the infinity of our
solar system.’” [Italics mine]
Many thinking people see our Earth as insignificant in an
objective way, within the context of the cosmos, as we know it.
This shows me that if an advanced, civilized, sentient
species exists, would it be spending so much time in surveillance of us, of
Earth; that is, in the numbers indicated by UFO reports?
A wag who sends comments too obtuse to allow at this blog
“insists” I don’t allow for many thinking species or life forms in the galaxy
or universe. This person ill-reads my commentary, which is extensive on the
matter and has been for many years now.
I believe that life may be pronounced, likely even, in vast
regions of the universe, hidden and seen, and in our own Milky Way galaxy.
My point is, and has always been, that an advanced species
from elsewhere, if truly advanced, wouldn’t be committing so much time and
effort above our planet when there are so many other living planets, or life
forms, and spectacular things to be seen and found in the vast cosmos we are
aware of.
