J. Allen Hynek’s astute (even profound) statement about UFOs

While perusing the ephemeral UFO pages and groups on Facebook, I saw a clip of J. Allen Hynek’s face, subtitled by quotes from him, one being that when the UFO explana- tion finally springs forth (if it ever does), it will tell us exactly what our reality truly is.

I didn’t grab the clip, as I usually would – the pandemic nonsense befuddling me (see post below) – so if anyone knows the quote and where it’s from, please leave a comment here, won’t you?. [Thanks].

I’ve been trying to make that point for some time here.

With all the AATIP Navy videos usurping UFO enthusiasts, some who should know better, UFOs, themselves have been left in the dust.

The AATIP videos relieve UFO-ET believers, even though the videos don’t really offer an extraterrestrial explanation. They just provide circumstantial evidence that something exotic and beyond current Earthian aircraft development exists.

I’m noticing that in the literary review periodicals I subscribe to, that there are more and more books appearing that delve into reality speculations and consciousness theories.

There seems to be a drift back to mind and consciousness as material rather than ethereal constructs.

Phenomenology and Cognitive Psychology are getting work-overs. [See TLS, March 20, 2020, Page 28 ff. review of The Oxford Handbook of Cognition]

And while those topics are grist for academics, they do little to explain UFOs or even paranormal ingredients, academics studying their methods and not things that would usually be on the table for scientific scrutiny.

This is the problem for ufologists or UFO enthusiasts too. Their “object” of study has been and continues to remain so elusive that it can’t be studied or examined and thus is not unlike that which phenomenologists and cognitive psychologists deal with.

And talking about drift, the wayward activity of UFOers lately (and usually?) goes to the heart of why Doctor Hynek’s “plea” goes ever more unanswered.

Getting our hands on -- a metaphor for gathering concrete, material aspects of UFOs, not just data or historical remembrances, reports, and hypotheses -- might go a long way to telling us what UFOs are and have been, and what reality we are subject to,

I am not alone in this quest for a diligent study of how to explain UFOs or get our “hands on” one.  J. Allen Hynek also wished for the same, God rest his soul.

(And alleged “crashed flying saucers do not exist, never have, never will. UFOs are something more, much more.)

The Pandemic Madness outdoes Ufological Madness

In my locale(s) Fort Wayne, Indiana and Ann Arbor, Michigan people are nuttier than ever and many are using the coronavirus pandemic to bilk people out of money by pressing them for contributions, not for true charitable needs but to stoke their businesses and ventures, one place in Fort Wayne that is a brewery converting its machines to make hand sanitizer, which got monies from contributions and a foun- dation that usually provides funds for legitimate charitable organizations.

(Excuse my long sentence, but such activity, really gets my bile up.)

The craziness isn’t limited to my venues or to such confidence games playing here, but is everywhere.

While checking for a Hynek quote I saw on Facebook, I scoured UFO pages and groups where I found a veritable basket-full of hokey humor postings by normally staid UFO people.

Everyone’s become a comedian it seems.

Then there is the overwhelming raft of postings about the AATIP videos, it’s never-ending and ubiquitous at Facebook and on UFO sites and blogs all over the internet.

Disclosure talk is rearing its ugly head again because of the AATIP video hypes.

My next posting, coming up [above this one], will offer something about that Hynek quote I was looking for and what it means for UFOs and only UFOs.
