Again: Everything IS connected (intertwined)!

Re-perusing Otto Billig’s book this afternoon [11/10/19], I find that all the things I’ve brought to the UFO table are covered by the Professor, and have import within the UFO phenomenon.

Bryan Sentes and MJ Banias socio-cultural element is mentioned by Dr. Billig, not stressed but mentioned.

The religious, mythological aspects are amply covered, as are psychological viewpoints.

The primitive mind-set is adduced, conjuncted by modern modalities, the book written and published in the early 1980s.

The Cold War and space travel are vetted, the Nineteenth Century too. 

And of course Blue Book, flying saucers, contactees, plus early flying saucer organizations.

Almost everything.

But the phenomenon has to be attacked, investigated, researched unencumbered by all the accretions that have attached themselves to it: so-called alien abductions, metal residue from alleged crashes, hoaxes, misinterpreted Earthly materials and phenomena, and the ego-centered pastiches that the phenomenon has accrued over the years and is ongoing.

The wheat from the chaff.

Science!

The current issue of TIME [November 18, 2019] devotes pages, in the magazine's The View,  to the values and true exploits of science.

I know some of you rarely read anything substantive, using the web for your edification.

Nonetheless, find the pages and read the opening salvo by Naomi Oreskes, Professor of the history of science at Harvard -- Why Trust Science. [Page 24]

You will be enlightened by such comments as " ... the scientific method doesn't work" and "A key aspect of scientific judgment is that it is done collectively."

Moving away from UFOs?

Since I’ve put a lot of emphasis lately on the “search for reality,” I shouldn’t be crotching about UFO people straying from the UFO path, but here it is….

Chris Savia and even my pal Bill Murphy at The Anomalist are loading their segments with links to podcasts and blogs that have little to do with UFOs but instead drip with thoughts and rumina- tions about reality and what it is or isn’t.

Erica Lukes, Rich Hoffman, Paul Seaburn, and other UFO notables are using their Facebook venues for anything but UFOs, taking readers on trips to other mysteries or mundane activities rather than sticking with UFO-related items.

My sojourns into reality, quantum physics, and computers, et cetera, et cetera are even worse. I should know better.

Peeling the apple does little to get at the core.

UFOs in their elusiveness cause ennui and so I understand the desire (or need) to seek refuge in other mysteries that are more amenable to study or discussion, but reality isn’t one of those.

No one is digging into UFOs as they did just a few years ago. Everyone has a topic that they pick to gain attention or note, even some topics that are as a facile as what one is having for dinner or where they’ve gone for a two-day trip – the Facebook itinerary.

I’ll try to bring UFOs back to the front burner here, in my small way to correct the lopsided approach to ufology that has lost its way.
