A ufological stasis or a remission of madness?

The UFO community has, by and large, normalized it seems.

The crazies have dwindled, and can only be found at the fringes of the internet .

(Yes, they are still with us, but quiescent and ignored pretty much.)

During the “golden era” of flying saucer interest (the 1950s), persons attuned to the phenomenon were corralled by the limitations in communications.

Then the internet burst upon the scene, and in the 1990s and early 2000 years, UFO bumpkins sprouted like weeds, populating web-sites (UFO UpDates comes to mind) and other internet venues.

Yet, here in 2016, ufological voices are rather quiet, aficionados reflecting on their one-time madness I think, sobering up with common sense and a kind of insightful decorum.

Sure, there remain pockets of ufological psychoses but, over all, the terrain has normalized, or seems to.

Does the seeming “normalization” derive from the soporific UFO appearances or does it come about from an awareness by UFO followers that the phenomenon is not about to be explained, and may not be worth the trouble of explanation?
