You can skim the first few minutes I think to get to the meat of Gilbertson's inquiry; he's not advocating ancient astronauts or other hypotheses we've been subjected to. He's merely ques- tioning, with some evidence, that there does seem to have been a more advanced human species that was decimated by some cata- clysmic event. His final commentary is rational and interesting -- even edifying.

Slip of fools

That Bryan Sentes note about an academic UAP conference really gets my ire up.

It came to my e-mail box alongside Google's UFO Alerts for 12/18.

The Alerts list had 9 out of 10 items devoted to news items about the pending Pentagon "study" of UFOs, er...excuse me, UAP.

With mainstream news and now a gaggle of academic hacks getting involved in the UFO mess, the phenomenon is doomed to a destiny of fad and foolishness.

The problem lies at the feet of ufologists, who've let the enigma slip into nonsense that they, UFO enthusiasts, brought on by a lax of real research and study, ufology being a pretend field of examination.

The UFO dolts have now conceded the interesting phenomenon to other fools, uninterested journalists and news organizations and college academics who are mired in their own petty needs to be "famous" or noteworthy somewhere, anywhere.

UFOs are in a bad place: the potpourri of popular sentiment -- a place where topics about life go to die.
