Jan Aldrich placed this on Facebook 8/7 (I think it's newsworthy)

UFO-Sweden got this from Sue Gough tonight (Swedish time):

You may attribute the below to me as Sue Gough, Department of Defense spokesperson:

“The Department is aware of Dr. Kirkpatrick’s post, which are his personal opinions expressed in his capacity as a private citizen and we won’t comment directly on the contents of the post. We do want to reinforce the Department’s unwavering commitment to openness and accountability to the American people and Congress. The dedicated military service members, civilian personnel, and federal contractors who support AARO’s efforts are deserving of the full confidence of our lawmakers and the American public. While much remains to be done to fulfill AARO’s mandate, AARO’s committed team has made great progress since its establishment only a year ago.”

Additionally, to help with your stories, you may the attribute the below to me also:

• AARO welcomes the opportunity to speak with any former or current government employee or contractor who believes they have information relevant to the congressionally-mandated historical review, and AARO has established a safe and secure process for individuals to come forward with information to aid in this effort.

• The Department has no information that any individual has been harmed or killed as a result of providing information to AARO. Any unsubstantiated claims that individuals have been harmed or killed in the process of providing information to AARO will serve to discourage individuals with relevant information from coming forward to aid in AARO’s efforts.

• To date, AARO has not discovered any verifiable information to substantiate claims that any programs regarding the possession or reverse-engineering of extraterrestrial materials have existed in the past or exist currently.

• DoD is committed to timely and thorough reporting to Congress, and to transparency with the American public. Since its establishment, DoD has kept Congress fully and currently informed of AARO’s activities and findings at all levels of classification.

• AARO looks forward to increasing the public’s understanding of UAP through the declassification of historical and contemporary UAP information.

Regards,

Sue Gough
