Epilepsy (seizures) and encounters with UFOs, humanoids, (and divinities: God/gods)

Dr. Kugel, in his book I keep recommending, had a footnote
that took me to an earlier footnote that mentioned errant thinking by two writers
who suggest religious visions and “encounters” are spurred by neurological
troubles or illnesses such as temporal lobe epilepsy.
This took me back to the discussion here of the 1979 Robert
Taylor event where Mr. Taylor was seemingly assaulted by a UFO that attempted
to kidnap or grab him.
One of the explanations for the episode was the suggestion
that Mr. Taylor had a temporal lobe epilepsy seizure and imagined the incident
during his “fit.”
I liked that suggestion until I read a book Matty recommended
-- The Dechmont Woods UFO Incident by Malcolm Robinson -- discussed at
length here.
Did Mr. Taylor see the aggressive machine before or during
his seeming epileptic seizure?
I think that the stress of being “barraged” by the UFO and
its supposed rolling balls, out to grab him, could have brought on a kind of
seizure, epileptic or otherwise.
And I still believe that, according to how my dog acts, that
his companion, attempting to arouse her master, created the tears in his pants.
But that leaves us with the grated ruts and tracks in the
soil surrounding the “attack” for which there is no real explanation to this
day.
Was what was described as the “machine” out to get him,
pictured above, a compendium of religious iconography or symbols?
Not as far as I can find. The spiked balls rolling toward
Mr. Taylor can be stretched to resemble the balls seen in the 16th
Century “broadsheet” drawings – also discussed here at length:
But I can’t imagine Mr. Taylor referencing these editorial “cartoons”
from his memory bank, if he ever saw them in the first place.
And the “object” dispelling the spiked balls, while somewhat
akin to other UFO reports and sightings, is unique. I can find no other UFO
account that resembles Mr. Taylor’s.
The 1979 event is one of a kind and very likely has nothing to
do with the UFO phenomenon in its mythological longevity.
N.B. The Kugel book stresses that the religious
encounters reported in ancient texts are as reported: real encounters with the
gods/God and not spurious reportage based on mental havoc or delusion.
