Earth: Our “bubble” of reality

Philip Jenkins’ Crucible of Faith, which I introduced the other day, provides insight(s) to the idea that we humans are subject to a reality that can be measured by the history of religion(s).

That ETH proponents and Ancient Astronaut theorists want to extend our existence to the cosmic realm is a flawed or errant stance that is basically harmless but intellectually untenable.

Jenkins shows that the AA ideas about early cultures and their beliefs about the gods, angels, and other beings are a corruption of what was the thinking and purposes of the religious texts that have come down to us since early times, his book centered on the 250 B.C. period to about 70 A.D., his “crucial” era.

One can see, by reading the Enochian texts that Jenkin’s elucidates and his coverage of the Babylonian and other Mediterranean expositions about God or gods, how the AA crowd and others might see an extraterrestrial influence at work, but that would be a stretch.

The evolution of theological or divine “inspiration” is carefully nurtured by Jenkins and has been by other scholars of theism’s thrust.

Human beings, and this Earth, as I keep contending, make up a lonely, isolated reality that is insignificant outside the immediacy of our presence in the galaxy and especially the vast universe.

We are subject to a unique existence that would be unknown to other species, even one that stumbled upon this planet while reconnoitering star systems and their planets.

For some unfathomable reason (or purpose) Earth is an existence that is one of a kind, with a purpose for being that eludes and has eluded thinkers since time immemorial.

UFOs are not vehicles from outer space, but if they were, what would their presence portend in an Earthian scheme of things. They [UFOs] have no meaning or relevance to the evolutionary paths that are uniquely human: one of a special kind that can’t possibly [sic] be experienced elsewhere.

We have (perhaps) a God who is omnipresent, omnipotent, and ineffable. That God functions within the parameters that holy scripture(s) have tried to explain, but woefully have not.

And while the AA crowd or ETH proponents continue to muck up holy writ with their fantastical fictions, God operates (or does not – see Richard Elliot Friedman’s The Hidden Face of God) within a bubble that alone is Earth (and maybe our immediate astronomical environs).

Will UFOs: Reframing the Debate by Robbie Graham et al. or "A" is for Adamski: The Golden Age of the UFO Contactees by Adam Gorightly and Greg Bishop ever get a mass audience?

Or Time Loops: Precognition, Retrocausation, and the Unconscious by Eric Wargo?

Eric’s book has received some significant academic recognition but the two UFO books never will.

UFO authors kill their efforts with non-marketing titles, as those above.

And my pals Nick Redfern and Kevin Randel have kept their authorial efforts confined to the UFO/paranormal community which is pretty chintzy when it comes to buying or supporting its communal authors (or any author for that matter).

UFO enthusiasts will dole out monies to or for worthless benefits but for the struggling author or writer wannabe, monies are not forthcoming, and those writers don’t help their cause by entitling their works with a peg to the few who, here and abroad, think UFOs are still a relevant topic.

The History Channel’s forthcoming “drama” Project Blue Book is dead in the viewing water as non-UFOers have no idea what Blue Book means, let alone a project so-called.

UFO blogs (like this one) and web-sites pinned to the UFO topic are arid islands for the really dedicated and bored UFO enthusiast.

Such internet efforts are unfound and uninterested sojourns for the public at large. Even UFO buffs are selective when it comes to web sites about their once-favored topic: flying saucers or UFOs.

What the UFO pantheon of authors and web/bloggers need are marketing tools that give their forlorn topic some heft and interest in the societal scheme of things.
