The UAP preferers have helped destroy the UFO epithet for flying saucers
Copyright 2022 InterAmerica, Inc.
When UFO replaced “flying saucers” as the epithet for the
things this blog deals with, it took away, for a while, the sci-fi gloss for
those things.
But eventually UFO came to be encrusted with the “alien” or extraterrestrial patina, helped along by movies using the so- briquet ET to identify the things [UFOs] were “piloted” by.
As notifications of news items, YouTube listings, and social media postings arrive at my computer or TV now, UAP has usurped the UFO anagram as the identifying initials for the things.
But UAP (which sounds like a cartoon dog bark: “yap”) slips by with almost a negligent patina. UAP doesn’t evoke anything worth paying attention to.
This is exactly what Earthian military agencies were hoping for. And UFO (flying saucer) enthusiasts complied by giving them their wish.
UFO enthusiasts are, generally, a sloppy batch of milquitoastian types who roll over like a lapdog, favoring belly rubs from the government constructs that rule them.
Almost everyone in the UFO community has acquiesced to the UAP designators, eschewing “UFO” just as they eschewed “flying saucer” when Project Blue Book fostered the UFO replacement term.
The odd things flying around our skies and slipping into our waters are now a mousy, ephemeral batch of aerial phenomena.
I hope my dopey UFO counterparts are happy now. They have a new term to deal with and exploit, as if it were a genuine linguistic bromide and not the placebo it really is.
