UFOs and their limited crews of Two

While revisiting Nick Redfern’s fascinating 2017 book, 365 Days of UFOs: A Year of Alien Encounters [Lisa Hagen Books], I was taken aback by how many UFO encounters reported (only) two humanoid entities – two (apparent) crew members.

In the April 24, 1964 Socorro listing [Page 129], which mentioned the Zamora sighting of two “small beings” – Nick calls them a “dwarfish crew” – Nick writes that on the same day a man named Gary Wilcox spotted, near his Tioga City, New York home, a “white, egg-shaped” craft, “crewed by a pair of small aliens” who were collecting soil-samples, one of whom spoke to Wilcox saying they came from Mars.

In the April 28, 1977 account [Page 132] Nick recounts a Bill Chalker report of an alleged purple-green “fireball crash” near the South Australian-West Australian border in which a witness claimed “two beings” were found in a damaged craft, one injured, one deceased, 5 feet in height, “pot-bellied” with long arms and black eyes.

In the listing for October 27, 1957 [Page 322] Nick tells of a Dutchman who, in 1954, upon returning home, found his wife “in a terrified state” having seen a flying saucer hovering over their farmhouse … “peering down from the craft [were] two very ‘Nordic’-like men” with high foreheads, long hair, fair with “pitiful looks on their faces.”

In a December 12, 1910 account [Pages 376-377] two men, in the 14^th Century market town of Listowel, County Kerry, saw a powerful, brilliant light about a  half mile from them, which was joined by a second light, both about six feet in height. “Within the flames that were contained within the two lights, they could see a pair of what were described as radiant beings with ‘human form;’ the flames having transformed into the entities. The lights then moved toward each other and unified into one. The figures within … strode out of the lights and towards the two men. Incredibly, they seemed to be glowing … they were radiating the glowing eeriness themselves.” Because of the brightness, the witnesses were unable to determine if the “visitors” were male or female … "But, they were clearly humanoid and had noticeable halos around heir heads.”

There are many other such “sightings” and some with crews or “visitors” of three, but never a full complement of “crewmen” (or women) as were sent aloft in NASA’s shuttles or speculated to be sent on outer space missions by future Earth ventures.

What can we make of such sightings as those highlighted by Nick?

Hallucinations? Fabrications? Actual events?
