Bryan confronts those of us who are coping with the current,
ongoing debate about AI and the Simulation Reality theses (as it relates to
UFOs and us).
But this scholarly bloke and pal of mine argues from within
a post-Enlightenment frame, when we should be debating with the au courant
hypotheses deriving from the technical (computer) age in which we are submerged,
circa 2019.
Bryan’s expertise and knowledge derives from the
Kantian/Hegelian circle and aftermath, which, I contend, are old-fashioned,
type-worn, and outmoded when it comes to AI, UFOs, Computer Simulations and everything
that is on the minds of today’s technocrats and physicists, not philosophers of
the old-school.
Bostrom, Musk, even the deceased Hawking, and other modern
thinkers eschew the philosophical models that Bryan is enchanted with and
steeped in.
When I link articles about the subject matters of this
piece, they are remiss, Bryan might say, by eschewing the likes of Heidegger,
Husserl, or anything that smacks of phenomenology, even though what is being
addressed – AI, UFOs, Quantum reality, or Simulated games – are sweltering in
aspects of phenomenology.
But discussions hefty with philosophical or phenomenology
earrings take us into the weeds of academic meandering and we end up stuck with
endless, tiresome whiffs of thought that becloud the dialectic I’m trying – and
Matty, DrDee, Dvelys, also – to get
going here.
But admittedly, if our reality is “normal” – as we
experience it – such weedy thought and erudition are fine and necessary for the
advancement of society and humankind.
Yet, I think we are in a deterministic reality, a different,
not-normal reality without free will, pushing us further into a chaotic mentality,
which Bryan abets, wholeheartedly.
(I can feel him, now, ready to pounce and nail my thinking
to the wall with examples of turgid philosophical tidbits.)
So, like my true buddy Zoam Chomsky, who espouses the “UFOs
do not exist and have never existed” thought, Bryan will come after me with a welter of
classic, Enlightenment thought, as he corrals others here along the way: Dee,
Matty and Dvelys particularly.
Let him have at it, as, like Zoam’s tantrums, it excites the
brain and enhances our daily lives that would be emptier without the push to go
back in time and thought to the “Modern Dark Ages.”
