The Roswell nonsense, er Festival

Copyright 2023, InterAmerica, Inc.
My dear friend and buddy, Anthony Bragalia, continues to think (believe) that the Roswell incident is significant and the lynchpin to explaining what UFOs are or what they may be.

Tony doesn’t just ruminate about that 1947 episode. He pursues the matter diligently, looking for evidence that counts and elements of the insanely botched event that have real import.

Then we have that clot of UFO enthusiasts – many being FB friends of mine – who’ve trotted off to the Roswell celebratory week of activities thrown together by Roswellian city-folk to bring attention and, more importantly (to them), economic boons of many kinds.

Nick Pope, Cheryl Costa, Rich Dolan, and almost everyone else whose names appear in UFO circles are in Roswell, from June 30 until July 2nd. But why, really?

They aren’t there to do research – the “research” has not panned out, ever. So, the attendees are there to schmooze and be seen and to see.

Humans are social animals someone in a newscast said this week, and the statement is a kind of maxim, used to explain how homo sapiens became dominant and Neanderthals became extinct: Neanderthals were not social animals.

The sad thing is that those who attend such festivities – Roswell a “big one” – do so to convince themselves they are UFO researchers and actually count when it comes to the UFO phenomenon.

But it’s really foolishness, foolishness that is harmless and totally without value.

So, if you aren’t in Roswell as I write this, and you end up not going, god bless your good sense and rationality.

Tony Bragalia isn’t there and won’t be. He looks at Roswell as a serious matter, not as an excuse to be silly or as a parade of wannabes who’ve dipped into the UFO matter to give them some meaning which, unfortunately, they squander by indulging in a camaraderie of total irrelevancy, even ignorance.

Billy Meier showing the spot where he captured photo of one of his "flying saucers."

A tedious video but Meier is perky.
