Crashed (or disabled) flying saucers [UFOs] and alleged debris

A UFO constant, stemming from the alleged Roswell UFO incident (crash of a flying disc), is that UFOs (flying saucers) have crashed or been disabled all over the place in the past 75 years or so.
 
The book pictured here “docu- ments” that constant, but UFO lore is rife with tales of downed UFOs and crashed flying sau- cers, as you know.
 
The idea mitigates the idea of advanced extraterrestrials flying here from interstellar places, mastering distance, time, and all the vicissitudes of a very vibrant cosmic environment only to flop down in a farm field or some other mundane and sylvan landscape.
 
(I could accept a suggestion that once or twice a military pilot got lucky and downed something that is or was called a flying saucer – a UFO – and debris from that event collected by persons on the ground. But the feel of such a suggestion is sci-fictive.)
 
Some of my UFO pals – Tony Bragalia, John Greenewald Jr. et al. – pursue the idea of crashed UFOs or, at least the remnants of them, with zeal and persistence. God bless them.
 
But UFOs appear to some of us as not only mysterious and oddly outside the range of normal physical reality so that the speculation of crashes or aerial disaster with an aftermath of debris seems a bit on the outré side of reason.
 
Yet, there does appear to be a raft of U.S, military documents or papers indicating that said military has or had a handful of flying saucer (UFO) debris and is testing or tested it, hoping to determine its origin or source.
 
What are we to make of such alleged “research”? Are there pieces of substances that lie outside or are different than the metals and minerals native to Earth?
 
And if so, does that mean that the “debris” is from an alien (extra- terrestrial) craft (or “thingie”)?
 
And how much information can one get from an odd substance, a piece of “debris”?
 
I suggest that those inebriated by the idea of UFO debris move on, to something more substantive, like who’s controlling UFOs – entities, AI machines, super tricky paranormal mavericks, or even remnants of the once vivid gods who ruled the Earth for a while?
 
Crashed advanced pilots from advanced interstellar civilizations coming here in advanced vehicles prone to disruption by this wondrously fertile, benign planet? I don’t think so.

UFOs and the Meaning of Life

That plaintive refrain (in my title), usually a mantra of philo- sophers, also ripples through the great unwashed on occasion.
 
Not any UFOer with a philosophical bent, as far as I know, seems inclined to tackle the matter, although it would seem to underpin the whole of the UFO dilemma: what purpose are UFOs in humanity’s search for the meaning of its (our) existence?
 
I’m not going to bore you with the religious ideologies – heaven, hell, reincarnation – or any philosophical platitude.
 
But I do think that if we get our hands on (or have gotten our hands on) a UFO – whether it’s an ET craft (which I doubt as you know) or a “thing” from time or another dimension or parallel universe, even something remarkably unique or unknown – within its configuration or technological make-up (or possible entities – lies a clue or answer to what our purpose for being is.
 
That we live to die and be forgotten – even the greats or near-greats eventually pass from the human or historical scrim – is obvious to those who think about it.
 
The passage from life to non-life afflicts everything on Earth. To what purpose?
 
UFOs may be able to tell us what that purpose – if any – really is.
