An accomplishment or a pretense of such?

This is considered an accomplishment but the material, as usual, will sit, unlooked at or any part researched.:

It will rest like those valuable artifacts that an incompetent Museum curator places in the museum's basement, never to be recalled for public or scholarly scrutiny.

A shot at Fame? (Not in Ufology)

I continue to be surprised at how many noted and notable people are, today, little remembered or totally forgotten.

 
(Various periodicals – The New Yorker, New York Review of Books, The Atlantic, The Times Literary Supplement, et al.) often provide remembrances, thankfully.)
 
And it’s the same in the UFO field, with some people, books, podcasts, blogs, and web-sites providing references to a few people who once made a mark in Ufology.
 
But who remains atop the UFO community and will remain so after the topic is long gone and forgotten by the public at large?
 
Well, the participants of significant UFO sightings or events – Kenneth Arnold, some Roswell names (Brazel, Marcel, Ramey, and a few others), Zamora, Hynek, Ruppelt, Condon, Vallee and others – but anyone now touting the phenomenon?
 
Not so much. Nick Pope is currently a “famous” UFO personality (which makes UFO nobodies – Philip Mantle for instance, grotesquely envious), von Däniken (because of his book and Ancient Alien premise), Giorgio A. Tsoukalos (because of his hair), the DoD UFO video leakers, and a few names you can recall or slurp up in a Google search.
 
But all the rest riding the UFO wave currently? Nope. They will be forgotten in a year or so, replaced by some few hot UFO personalities and events.
 
Fame is always fleeting, but more so in the UFO world which doesn’t have a real niche in the overall public arena.
 
So, those struggling for their niche will be very disappointed by not even being a footnote in the UFO category.
 
Yet, they continue to try for notoriety: some geezers pushing cartoons about UFOs in their public venues, some pushing odd old sightings, a few hoping for attention by speaking at or headlining a UFO gathering or “conference,” and others stirring up trouble on the sidelines (me?).
 
No, UFOs will not bring fame. Few things do, but Ufology even less so than “normal” activities (even in sports which is often a public attention getter, or movies, TV shows, Broadway theater, news reporting, et cetera).
 
Still, my fellow UFO enthusiasts keep trying.
 
God bless them for their futile endeavors.
