Where's ufology's great thinker?

Within the UFO arena, past and present, I can't find the Einstein or any other genius offering the kind of thoughts that open the "doors to perception" (following up on my previous posting somewhat).

I am loath to see any interpretation(s) of UFO sightings and events that bring we enthusiasts of the phenomenon to an understanding of what the phenomenon is or represents.

The mind-curdling materials that have been produced about flying saucers since 1947 -- even Carl Jung's opus and Jacques Vallee's many books -- can be dismissed, and have been pretty much.

John Keel's ongoing foothold among many in the UFO community is an aberration of a dizzying kind; the man a welter of psycho- pathologies at the end of his life.

Among the welter of UFO commentators, even some who pretend to be writers, many now bludgeoning Facebook users, there is a deepening maw of ignorance -- even hubris -- infecting the field of that pseudo-science (ufology).

Digging through my slew of UFO book and anthologies and memory bank, I can't find one, not one, UFO-oriented person who has confronted the phenomenon with any kind of consequence.

Sure, there are favorites among the so-called UFO cognoscenti -- John Keel, as mentioned -- but not anyone who has ripped the veil of understanding away from the ongoing enigma.

Again, I recommend, Charles Ives' The Unanswered Question as a (classical) musical rejoinder to how stymied we humans are about lots of things, the piece applicable to UFOs among them, more so than most as I see it.

We are amidst many life mysteries, UFOs just one of many. But would you believe that that this one mystery remains, after many years of cogitation, still in the unexplained category?

After all, it's had a good run among thoughtful people, even as the dolts took control of the phenomenon, and are now having a field day eviscerating the topic all over the place, using the current tools of social media to dilute the significance of the unique puzzle.

I ask, once again, who has been or is the geat explicator of UFOs? Who?

A former pal of mine thinks that psychedelics do present insights of a profound kind.

My son, Josh, the neuroscientist (and his colleagues) when I talked with them last summer about hallucinogenics were disinclined to see mushrooms, LSD, peyote, et al. as paths to some kind of meta- reality.

They did see psychedelics as a possible entry-way to calming serious mental problems, schizophrenia among them.

But no one that I can find -- reputable scientists, doctors, et cetera -- will concede that tripping brings persons to a kind of cosmic consciousness awareness, the experience a mental flux of memory, synapse interruptions, and psychological mayhem.

Any academic promoting the idea that people can find god via "getting high" should be drummed out of their careers and eschewed from publishing their bogus ideas.
