ET Thinking

How would extraterrestrials think, if extraterrestrials
exist and think?
Thinking as we humans understand thinking is compromised by
our view of how other species (plant, animal, insect, sea life, microbial, et
al.) think.
Some of us believe that living creatures think as we human
mammals think and, as often noted here, almost everything in the Earth’s
biosphere think, and creatively too.
But such thinking or thought is restricted by the variables
and strictures that are unique to this planet, and this planet alone.
The brains of humans, beginning before the Paleolithic age,
but reaching consciousness or awareness in the Neolithic age, according to
Jaynes (see previous postings here), is enabled by brain structures such a
neural connectors, complex synapses, and all the other biological accoutrements
and are developed according to Darwin’s Theory of Evolution which is only
applicable to planet Earth (again, see previous postings here).
The thinking of all species (living creatures) on Earth is
subject to evolution and functions with the cultural and environmental
restrictions unique to planet Earth.
Thus, a supposed intelligent species bred on a planet other
than Earth would think, if that is what we assume to call the fulcrum of their
intelligence, in ways that have to be foreign to what we call thinking.
The movie Arrival approaches the topic, as has some old
clunkers like Earth vs The Flying Saucers.
But for our intent here, one has to assume that extra-planetary
species would not begin to think in a manner that we’d recognize or understand.
This is just one more element of the UFO conundrum that hasn’t
been vetted by the ufological community.
