Another necessary get-together?

Really looking forward to speaking at the Outer Limits Conference in Hull this weekend. I’m on Sunday afternoon at 14:40pm, where I will be speaking about the Sauchie Poltergeist. Meeting up with lots of friends, so could be a dizzy weekend at the hotel bar (lol)

My pal, author Malcolm Robinson, is looking forward to this gathering, mostly for the aftermath at the bar it seems.

Many (most?) UFO oriented conferences or assemblages are for sociability rather than purposeful information-sharing. The one noted by Malcolm appears to be one of those.

My dearest mate (buddy) Nick Redfern was called out for a photo showing him at a recent  Big Foot meeting, slouching in a chair on stage.

Nick, as a journalist writer, zeroing in on the paranormal, attends a lot of conferences and gatherings. He enjoys the camaraderie and pleasantries involved. But it has to be tiring sometimes.

You know my feelings about the sheer waste of time and import for such get-togethers.

I was privileged to be invited to a neuroscience/physics "party" in Ann Arbor a few weeks ago.

There were drinks and hors d'oeuvres before and drinks afterward. More importantly, the conversations were lofty and intellectually filling.

However, I was lost.....the topics were beyond me greatly. (My outdated psychological meanderings were laughable but tolerated because of my recent book work on the ascendency of the gods in ancient times.)

My point is that eating and drinking are often part and parcel of serious gatherings but the UFO contingent seems to put more emphasis on the social aspects more than the purposeful aspects publicized upfront for attendance.

Has anything worthwhile come forth from any UFO conference or Sasquatch meeting or any paranormal-oriented gathering? Really, ever?

That U of M party I was delighted to attend wasn't a formal happening by a long shot but I could hear and see that the people interacting were offering scientific gems and suggestions that could/would spark some terrific activity or thinking with real paydirt.

So, Malcolm's looking forward to the Fourth Encounter meeting's bar aftermath may be all that will be worthwhile, in some way.

At least he'll have fun, and that's what is important in ufology nowadays, isn't it?
