A spate of ignorance or an all-out assault?

I’m, surprised but shouldn’t be….
 
The entrenched ET belief by Facebook’s UFO crowd is firm and profoundly ignorant.
 
The believers, obviously without astronomical training or education, wish to prevent any idea that UFO incidents are anything other than an alien or extraterrestrial visitation; nothing else is to be considered.
 
When I linked, at Facebook, my Ariel note ballyhooing the Dominick and Bryan (Daum) suggestion that the 1994 incident might be – might! – a military ruse or student-oriented prank, the reaction, generally was vibrant and stupid: ignorant.
 
Commentators overlooked the question mark in the suggestive title: An explanation….?
 
Moreover, they didn’t like the proclivity to investigate the possibility of a military staging or student-created prank.
 
The commentary was palpably ignorant.
 
That kind of anti-intelligent response can’t be handled or dealt with by Bryan Sentes’ philosophical meandering. Such mental nonsense needs a curative psychiatric session, because it is inherent as a flawed neurological process stemming from a warped education or upbringing.
 
Fortunately, this blog can hold such flagrant nescience at bay by not allowing it here.

Upsetting an applecart?

After inserting a note/link, for a few Facebook UFO groups I like, to my Ariel posting here, I’ve received some testy but not necessarily nasty ripostes about the military or prank suggestions as an explanation for the alleged 1994 UFO incident.
 
That was to be expected. UFO/ET believers are fanatical or severe in their ET explanation for UFOs, as foolish as that may be to some of us.
 
In an off-UFO example, my often suggestion, in reviews elsewhere and essays, that Shakespeare was not the writer of works attri- buted to him but, rather, the namesake for a consortium of his Elizabethan buddies who penned the works in a way so as not to raise hackles with the Monarchical authorities.
 
Even my pal Paul Kimball shirked at the possibility. For him, and others, Shakespeare was and is a literary god.
 
I choose to think otherwise, as I do with the ET scenario for the UFO phenomenon.
 
That apparent upside-down view causes people to get snippy or worse.
 
But so be it. We are not here to be dolts, but to question every- thing, with good sense and even Ockham’s razor which mention of gave the scoots to a few ETers at Facebook.

How would extraterrestrials perceive humans?

An article, Contact, by Elizabeth Kolbert in the June 13^th New Yorker, subtitled “Can humans truly learn how animals perceive our shared world?” [Page 22 ff.] caused me to ponder how would ETs be able to perceive humans and our behavior.
 
A retrospective video clip of Carl Sagan appearing with Johnny Carson on the Tonight show in which Sagan offered that beings from another world/planet would certainly be totally different from us because of the vast different elements in their “evolutionary” stretch from those in Earth’s evolutionary process.
 
That indicates a problem with so-called telepathy and other sup- posed modes of communication; e.g. books, words, language, meaning, et cetera.
 
This is where the NewYorker piece comes into play. It shows how difficult it is for the many species here, on our planet, communi- cating what they mean or how they are perceiving their mutual existences.
 
Can an alleged alien being ever really understand a human being’s feelings and thoughts?
 
What are supposed interplanetary species feeling? What are the mechanisms of their perceptions?
 
To equate human feelings for non-human species here on Earth are troublesome in themselves, so one can imagine how difficult it would be to determine such things between totally different species from elsewhere, and I mean truly elsewhere.
