AI UFOs, a possibility, yes?

The November 2017 Popular Mechanics magazine has several pages devoted to AI (Artificial Intelligence), Pages 73-79.

While PM offers a somewhat simplistic take on AI, one will get an overview of the many aspects of AI that affect or intersect with human society now and how it will affect humans in future.

I know that a few of the readers who visit here believe, as I do, that some UFOs may be von Neumann probes, sent throughout the galaxy or universe by an advanced species or civilization:

I even go further by thinking that such probes may be self-replicating, “intelligent” devices that are a highly advanced, technological “species” themselves (or itself).

I’ve cited here rather recently a few UFO encounters that indicate possibly antagonistic probes that have stumbled upon this planet and humans and finding biologic entities (us), react as if they have encountered an “enemy” – perhaps, entities like those the AI machines replaced on their home planet(s):

The 1948 Gorman “dogfight”

The 1954 Dewilde confrontation (France)

The 1967 Michalak/Falcon Lake encounter

The 1979 Robert Taylor “assault (in Scotland)

(There are others.)

Robert Hastings has provided a litany of reports showing that UFOs have intruded upon military sites, especially nuclear facilities.

One can speculate that such UFOs are AI probes that “think” errantly they have come across AI species like themselves in the configuration of advanced computer entities, with which they wish to communicate.

Of course, such “intelligent probes” would be sparse, one would think, several, over time, as “intelligent probes” would surely wish to reconnoiter the vast galaxy or universe and finding limited intelligent AI “machines” here would move on.

One Popular Mechanic segment quotes Elon Musk, whose views on AI strike a chord with me:

“If I were to guess at what our biggest existential threat is …referring to artificial intelligence, it’s probably that.

“We are talking about systems that are going to be dramatically smarter than humans … better artists, better scientists. And when you have systems that are clever, creative, and knowledgeable, they will have extreme power.” [Page 78]

Maybe a few UFOs are exactly that.
