The Easter weekend: a full-out assault on reason and joy

Copyright 2023, InterAmerica, Inc.
Aside from the depressing yet tasty MidWestern Easter meal, compared to Tony Bragalia’s  “Prime Rib, Roasted Carrots. Spring Salad and Potatoes Au Gratin.” I was schmucked by a Puccini opera [Tosca] I used to love but hated this weekend when it was aired, live, by The Met on Saturday – Puccini a schmaltzy composer with one or two spectacular arias per opera in his oeuvre.

Coupling that with the note seen on Kevin Randle’s blog (reproduced in a posting below) and a smattering glut of self-serving Facebook notifications, one is disposed to depression.

Furthermore, an April 3rd New Yorker piece about “data” by the brilliant Jill Lepore (Page 16 ff.) assesses how data is misused and clarifies my view that UFO dolts often misuse the term and the accumulative process of data in their attempts to feign intelligence.

Data are the numbers and the interpretation is the information derived from those numbers.

Which leads to an article in the April 1New Scientist magazine by Hawking collaborator Bernard Carr on black holes (Page 46 ff.), the most boring topic for me in all of the cosmological world of study.

That black holes may have survived from the Big Crunch – not the Big Bang – allows me to hark back to my college classes when I held on to the Hoyle – now discounted but coming back to fruition – idea that the Universe was infinite and eternal – the Big Crunch merely a “glitch” in the eternal existence of the Universe.

In the Carr account of his and Hawking’s black hole ruminations, one is stymied by the disclosure that all these two guys had for sustenance of their views were mathematical calculations – that fraudulent exercise of numerical mumbo-jumbo.

And the maxim that Information can’t be destroyed irks. Why not? No one really explains.

The New York Review of Books issue for April 20 contains a showcase of Chicago University books available, one for me – A Conspiratorial Life about the (great as I saw him) Robert Welch, Founder of The John Birch Society with whom I occasionally interacted while a Section Leader for the JBS – and several for our pal Dominick, an Econ Professor Emeritus, with one book that I found to maybe buy: The Capital Order: How Economists invented Austerity and Paved the Way to Fascism by Clara E. Mattei [$30].

Finally, the ongoing fusillade of self-promoting UFO grandstanders remains sickening, the men and women lauding their supposed accomplishments, like speaking at a conference or appearing on a podcast or writing a book, none of which tells us of content, just their moment of glory, minus a rationale for that “glory.”

That Jesus/Christ rose from the dead is a “fact” for me – whether he was the son of Yahweh or the son of the perpetual Divine being of our reality.

More on this at my Substack page….talk about irk! My views there are considered blasphemous by some readers who miss the point.

Happy Easter to my "peeps" who visit here
