How to read old UFO reports

There are a number of tomes by philosopher qua grammarian and profound thinker Jacques Derrida who guides writers towards a complex but definitive role of explicator.
 
(Derrida is the “originator” of the process known as deconstruc- tion with which some of you are familiar.)
 
But two short works of his dispense with the extensive procedures attendant to clarifying what one needs to make salient points about a topic under discussion or study:
 
The Gift of Death and Literature in Secret
 
The Gift of Death examines Jan Patočka’s Heretical Essays on the Philosophy of History and The Literature in Secret combs through the Biblical sequence involving Abraham’s plight in dealing with god’s demand that he (Abraham) kill his favored son Isaac.
 
(I won’t burden you with a discussion of either, except to use them as progenitors of my point here.)
 
Derrida implores us to find the message(s) present inside texts, messages that arise apart from the text itself but are implicit and meaningful in ways that the text, itself, isn’t.
 
In my foray about the “god” Yahweh, who is not God but a perverse being from whom the ancient Israelites created a religion, one that now contaminates humanity, I use much of Biblical texts – the Hebrew Bible particularly – as sources for historical realities that are besmirched by the “sacred” overlay that encrusts the truth of who or what the Hebrew god was.
 
This is also how we should tackle the older UFO accounts, not a divine encumbrance of something manifest in our skies back then, but as a kind of “historical” rendition of what was seen or experienced.
 
Setting aside any journalistic or ufological bias, there are details in those old accounts that provide an accuracy as to what UFOs may be, just as Bibles tell us – once we set aside the religious overlay – who or what Yahweh – the god of Western religions -- was, in actuality.
 
But as Derrida informs, the message – the real message – within the written text lies open only to those who can discern it from the passages under survey.
 
As he puts it allegorically [on Page 139 of Literature in Secret]:
 
“The meteorite’s secret is that it becomes luminous upon … entering the earth’s atmosphere, arriving from who knows where, but in any case from another body from which has become detached. Then, what is meteorite must be brief, rapid, transitory. Furtive in its lightning passage, that is to say perhaps as clandestine and guilty as a thief.”
 
The hidden message is there but secret, furtive, yet available by hermeneutic intuition.
 
Now who, in ufology, is capable or interested in such a scholarly endeavor? Aside from, perhaps, David Halperin, no one.
 
So, this goes to my constant rejoinder, when it comes to UFO archival effort and study: Move on!

Jesse Michels and Jacques Vallee in conversation

In this discussion, Vallee (and Michels) point to intrusions of entities throughout human history that are exampled by angels, demons, sprites, fairies, djinns, elves, et cetera and currently may be represented by so-called alien or ET abductors or the beings greeted in UFO encounters, either coming from the future or other parallel realities.

(The brief clip of Carl Sagan explaining the non-availability of humans to experience a texahedron is intriguing.)

But a question hovers over the matter: what is the origin of the supposed entities that are experienced as recorded by writings and reports since the earliest remembrances of mankind, some even displayed by primitive cave artists in illustrations going back hun- dreds of thousands of years ago?

While we have Darwin's theory of evolution for Earth's flora and fauna, where is the theory for the existence of the many pickled entities referred to?

That is, from where do such creatures as those described come from? And what could be their purpose for such strange and baf- fling behavior, often of a malignant kind?

You see, while the Michels/Vallee conversation is heady and enter- taining, it opens doors to more questions rather than answering any.
