Albert Rosales presents UFO (and odd) encounters just as he finds them:

"Location, Zula, Ocotlan, Mexico

Date: 1955 Time: daytime

Several young witnesses reported encountering a strange little man as they played in the backyard. They claimed that the being had human features and wore a form-fitting suit that covered his body completely except for his face. The first one who saw the little man was a 6-year old boy, who at first thought it was a doll and attempted to touch the humanoid, but when he approached the figure, this one stepped back. This alarmed the youngster who ran to his house and told his mother what he had seen. His mother did not believe him, but the boy insisted and dragged her outside. Once outside she almost ran into the strange humanoid and noticed that he had large lidless protruding eyes that reminded her of a fly. Terrified, she fainted right away."

Preston Dennett presents his UFO encounters with a bias of extraterrestriality:“

In January 2006, a young couple, Charles and Maria (pseudonyms) moved into their new home on the east coast of Canada. They were quite busy with moving in, repairing the house, starting a new business and dealing with red-tape from the Canadian government about insurance and other issues, when they became pregnant. While they had been hoping to start a family, they wanted to settle in first. Still, it was good news and quite exciting for them both … 

… on August 2, 2006 (at seven and a half months pregnancy), they went to sleep and awoke to a violent electrical storm over their house. The bolts of lightning were massive and quite unusual, traveling horizontally across their backyard. Frightened for their safety, Charles jumped up and closed the window. The next thing they knew, it was morning. That was weird; neither could understand how they fell asleep so quickly. Both Charles and especially Maria felt a bit dazed and groggy. Maria felt almost as though she had been anesthetized. And looking down at her belly, she was shocked to see that it had shrunk in size. Not only that, she no longer felt pregnant. She told her husband, who said that perhaps the baby had moved away from a breech position. Maria hoped that was the case, but she didn't think so. She also noticed three strange puncture wounds in a triangular position on the arch of her foot. ...

Thus began a search for answers, but there were none. The only explanation that they could find was the "missing fetus syndrome." They learned that women who had experienced UFO encounters sometimes lost their babies under mysterious circumstances. Could this be what happened to them? 

... Examining their past, they found several clues. Charles had seen UFOs, and so had his father. Maria reported dreaming about "light beings" and on a few occasions had actually seen them in her bedroom ..."

José Caravaca offers an hypothesis for the encounters he examines:f.

 " ... from my point of view, perhaps the image of the phenomenon (the ship/occupant scenography), in view of its ephemeral and variant character is in reality the epiphenomenon and in reality, the consequences and effects of these manifestations on the witnesses the real matter to investigate. Be that as it may, these manifestations are a way in which our psyche can come to decode reality in its broadest sense, but its hypnotic effects, caused by our cultural filters constructing an apparently extraordinary reality, prevent this new cognitive reality from manifesting itself as it truly is."

I favor two of the three.

We’re stuck with this reality?

A YouTube video sent my way recently dis- coursed on var- ious levels of observation, from a quantum perspective.
 
That is, the narrator mentioned how the smallest particles were subsets of reality, and that tis Earth may be but a speck or “quantum-like” particle within a quantum-like solar system, ad the whole universe, as we know it, just a quantum reality, like an atom, the Earth and solar system sort of like quarks, or neurons, et cetera.
 
Above or below our “reality” are other realities, all going upward or downward to infinite states of reality or existence; an ant-hill used as an example of a sub-reality beneath our feet, that is, generally, devoid of our perception or attention.

The great metaphysical clergyman philosopher Tielhard de Chardin posed such a kind of reality when he suggested that the Universe we inhabit is the body of the Christ and we individuals are specks (molecular beings) within that “body” – Teilhard going on to elaborate on the how these molecular beings (us) cause pain within that body (Christ).
 
What I’m driving at here is that there are a number of speculative outpourings about reality or real reality, beginning with Plato and accumulating all the way to various physicists and philosophers of today.
 
But we mere mortals have no access to the suggested realities, and it seems that no one can prove or show examples of other realities.

 

UFOs are, for me, a clue or a footnote, even a real example, of other realities, maybe just the one right above (or below) this reality we’re stuck in.
 
The enigmatic phenomenon, like that ant-hill, doesn’t impact my everyday life – as it does others, sadly – but it does present a kind of dessert to living: nothing more than a scoop of ice cream or piece of apple pie.
