UFO Conjectures

As said in “Cool Hand Luke”: We have a failure to communicate

The idea that old UFO cases – those that have been rehashed again and again and then again once more – can still produce an expla- nation or, at least, a clue as to what the UFO phenomenon is or means, is a fantasy, a pathology of thought that the older UFO peo- ple – those I continue to call the UFO geezers -- cannot be cured of, apparently.

And why is this?

The geezers don’t get it: UFOs [UAP for some] are a totally unique phenomenon.

The modes of investigation and study cannot broach the matter; investigation and research techniques of the past are ill-prepared to cope with that uniqueness.

UFO old-timers just can’t see it. They are blind to their own ignorance in the matter.

The hubris these old-timers have about their thinking abilities blind them to my point:

UFOs are beyond the ability of humans, no matter how smart they think they are or may actually be, to understand them.

A totally new approach to UFO investigation may help, but I hold to the thought that the phenomenon may be out of reach for explanation, like the idea of God or our real reality.

So, forgive me, you fantasy-thinkers. UFOs are beyond your ken and have always been so.

Give up the idea that ruminating on old UFO cases will help you out of your mental dilemma about the phenomenon – the old cases cannot tell you what UFOs are, what they mean, or what their purpose is.

Move on – to something more prosaic or mundane. UFOs are beyond your abilities.

Our new guy here, Bernie, wrote in a comment, that we can tell UFO long-timers (those geezers) from UFO newbies: The old-timers use UFO while newbies are attracted to UAP as the designation of the enigmatic phenomenon.

Bernie is almost right….

I’m seeing “traitorous” long-timers switching to the UAP signifier, just to be part of the new UFO community: The Debrief (mag) is rife with the UAP mantle.

Just what the U.S. DoD hoped for.

The phenomenon is now among a mixture of unidentified anom- alous “thingies” that divert news media, the public, and those damnable geezers, who keep being sidetracked by every loony Tom, Dick, and Harry who gather around and in the UFO topic to create mischief.

Far be it from me to attack UFO long-timers just because they are old (ahem), but my geezer attribution means to imply old-timers have become dementiated by the flying saucer phenomenon.

Some even went off the deep end: Keel, McDonald, Jessup, and those guys who were pranked by the Rendlesham set-up….to name a few.

Yes, UAP is used by some smarties, who entered the fray recently, so one can excuse them for being contemporary.

But the old-timers – those geezers? When they resort to using UAP instead of UFO, you can bet that they are trying to stay young and vital against the odds. And some of us are not fooled by their contingency. It’s pathetic.
