Medical connections to UFOs

My pal, Bill Murphy, at The Anonalist, linked this material (noting "Full disclosure: one of the paper's co-authors, Dr. Linda Murphy, is [his] wife.")

While some close friends of mine in cosmology and neurology think (somewhat) that UFOs [UAP] may have some connections (indirect) to human biology and mental "aberrations," those connections are set aside for consideration.

In the paper noted by Bill, there is implied a "religious" connection (maybe), more than a medical connection, the two overlapping during a crisis, personal or general. [This is the domain of Jose Caravaca.]

Now I like the idea of a neurological glitch or intrusion accounting for a few UFO episodes, especially alleged encounters, however, trying to get neurological attention is tough, the science mainly interested in mind failure or troubling incidents.

I noted a day or so ago the format and subject matter of a U of M neurological lab class I got sucked into.

And today I got this invite, from my publisher, to this seminar:

I could not be more indifferent.

Trying to squeeze the UFO phenomenon into psychological or neurological parameters is a walk on the silly side.

While there may be some (indirect) connection, readers here  -- like Ron and Dominick -- see UFOs as a solid, tangible something outside the mental configurations of humans.

I have to agree -- while accepting the possibility that some UFO sightings or encounters may be instigated by personal crises of some sort or other.

UFOs need to be "captured" and examined by persons qualified to do so: engineers, physicists, chemists, and others with expertise that pertain, depending upon what evidence is gathered by a close up view of the thing.

Yes, I like the psychological aspect surrounding UFOs, but that has little, perhaps nothing, to do with the source or purpose of the phenomenon ... unless UFOs are a trick (prank) from the "gods."
