Since the beginning of humankind, as best as has been
deter- mined, man has ingested, for survival, other sentient creatures for food.
Because of early man’s lack of awareness, conscious thought,
one might excuse his or her preference for animal foodstuffs, but how does that
allow for later man’s continued sentient desires?
(In conjunction with that is the wholesale rituals of
child/human sacrifice, which appeared as early in mankind’s history as the
Bronze Age, and one might guess earlier than that. I won’t get into the eating
of plants, which have their own kind of sentience, as do various denizens of
the aquatic world.)

My point is that humankind exists on, and always has, a
basic, primitive and/or ruthless basis: life itself is open to sacrifice, even
cannibalism, and could not be sustained without such barbaric behavior.
(Somehow, evolution or the whims of God are rooted in a queer or strange
premise: life is necessary for life, but meaningless accordingly.)
So what about the existential (in the current errant sense)
behavior of imagined extraterrestrials.
While a few UFO encounters that present suggestions of ET
foods and habits, the ETs supposedly discovered in Aztec, New Mexico (1948) and
elaborated upon in Frank Scully’s discredited book,
Behind the Flying
Saucers [Henry Holt and Company, 1950] did have some similar accoutrements
as Earthlings:
Food was found in their crashed flying disk: “… what appeared to be food … were little wafers … there were containers of water …
normal in all respects to our water, except it was about twice as heavy.” [Page
120, PB]
“… there were toilet facilities, inside the sleeping
quarters [of the larger ship found]. [Page 122, PB]
These descriptions of ET biological needs or practices are
one of a few described by witness accounts of Flying Saucer/UFO encounters (and
such details were what made Scully’s book so popular with readers and UFO
enthusiasts).
The Scully offerings open the door to discussions about what
would ETs eat and do they have need of waste elimination. (Further, what are
the mechanisms of procreation, etc.)
That we human beings are proclived to eat other fellow
creatures, all with at least some kind of sentience, many with full sentience
as studies and experimentation show, indicates that humankind went astray
early on in its evolution. Why?
What would Scully’s ET’s wafers consist of? Why would ETs
need toilet facilities?
Why do we eat fellow “beings” with alacrity? Or kill them
wantonly for various reasons?
You tell me…
