Treading water in a swimming pool?

I’m sure that most of you visiting here have noticed how the
UFO crowd is spending its time regarding the phenomenon; that is, they aren’t.
UFOers among my list are telling jokes, displaying cartoons, and presenting family photos. Many (me, among them) have dredged out old sightings and reports as the phenomenon remains in stasis mode, showing little in the way of novelty.
The justification for the levity and nonsense derives, it seems, from a social need for joy and fun because we’re living in hard, bad times.
But are we really amidst bad times?
Yes, there is climate change afoot, Covid-19, Monkey Pox, racial discordance, Russian and Chinese assertions of territorial claims they really don’t have, foolish humans drooling over “talent” that isn’t (Beyoncé?), politicians going berserk, inflation, etc.
But is it really all bad? Or just irksome?
The UFO phenomenon has been watered down by the assertion it's UAP, not objects flitting around overhead (or in our seas).
The dopiness of ufologists is just reblooming. It’s been latent for 50 or 60 years.
One old-timer I suggested to move on – from his incessant need to rehash old UFO clips and notes about the past conferences he attended with UFO A or B listers – suggested I ignore his ramblings. (I will.)
The attempt(s) to re-engage the UFO community as Errol Bruce-Knapp did with UFO UpDates hasn’t taken hold, and won’t. UFO people are amok with hedonistic foolery.
It’s where we are, humankind, that is: existence without purpose or meaning.
Some of you are waiting for extraterrestrials to arrive and save us from ourselves, Others are basking in their lounge areas, hoping someone will bail them out of their idiotic lifestyles. And others have just given up on seeking the meaning of life, which isn’t just to swill lemonade and indulge the body in meaningless pastimes, like UFO conferences or vacation-oriented venues in the mountains or near an ocean.
Surely, there is some reason to be born and live purposefully, yes?
And it isn’t to gather likes or guffaws on Facebook or to be seen on TV spouting UFO “theory” as if there were any.

Nope – as the Peele movie indicates. That’s not what UFOs are about, nor life.
Keep UFO cartoons to yourself. We’ve seen enough already. It’s time to really move on.
